Following potential 2013 draftees

I hope you guys feel good about ripping apart an otherwise perfectly good thread with your nonsense. Seems to be an unfortunate theme as of late.

I have posted no such nonsense on this thread. I leave that for the homer thread.

I demand an apology.

Bazz

I like Noel but I worry about his frame in the league. I guess Davis and his growth might be able to persuade me to change my mind.

His frame is fine. He's only 228 lbs right now, but he's got plenty of frame and already weighs more than Davis at the same age.

I agree. Also, Noel isn't as skilled offensively as Davis was coming out of high school. He might be as good on the defensive end, but not on offense.

Noel is actually more advance in the post than Davis was at the same point. Davis made massive strides very quickly. Davis was also said to be more offensively diverse because of playing the 2G most of his life .. but it didn't really matter because Calipari didn't use him that much on the perimeter, for obvious reasons. Noel has played his whole life in the post and has a few more moves than Davis did coming into college.

Davis was one of the best college freshman I've ever seen. Can Noel rise to that level. Doubt it. He can be nearly as good of a shot-blocker, though, and that's saying a lot.

'Bazz is going to be asked to do WAY more for UCLA than Noel is for UK. 'Bazz will be handed the keys to the scoring. Too bad Ben Howland hates Ferraris and prefers F-250's. For Muhammed's sake, I hope Howland doesn't play such a BORING brand of bb this year.

@Cy

Considering the strength of the class, the players selected just before or just after, and the team environment/opportunity to play, and their age, who has under-performed?

Rondo at #21?
Tayshaun Prince at #23?
Wall at #1?
Cousins at #5?
Bledsoe at #18?
Patterson at #14?
Knight at #8?

I'll give you Orton.

The players in bold are not lottery picks, if you didn't know. And ironically will probably have better careers than any of the lottery picks.

Wall has underperformed
Cousins also has underperformed, evidence that the Kings are exploring trade options (according to you)
Patterson sucks, but he was picked with the last lottery pick, so I can't really say he has failed to meet expectations.
Knight is looking alright.

So, re-shuffle the draft.. who would you, right now, choose ahead of Wall? Cousins? (since you've narrowed down your over-generalized original statement to two players)

I wouldnt say anyone other than Orton is a bust, and he was obviously going to be a bust. You have to hate hard to call any of these anything close to a bust.

Definitely not calling any of them bust, just saying underperformed relative to expectations. I think UK players do this more, probably due to the fact they get hyped up more, than most other schools.

Thanks. In fairness, Cy didn't say bust, he said under-performed. I still say he's dead wrong.
Now, one could say Wall has yet to match the hype .. I could get behind that.
