What's new

Following potential 2013 draftees

What? Suspect stats?

He is averaging 15 pts 8 brds 5 assts 3 stls 1 block.

Not bad really.

Unknown?

He cant be that unknown. Nbadraft.net has him going 6 overall. He is a Mcdonalds all american. Two high school Texas 5a championships. USA U18 Fiba championship. Top 13 recruit.

Just to name few things I found. He sounds pretty well known.

What am I missing?

nbadraft.net has no cred. Having said that, DX has him going #14 in 2014 and that provides some credibility.
Hey, I'm not hating, I'm just suggesting that comparing him to Kabongo, that most here consider to be a replacement starter for us (though they're wrong), is too lofty. I've watched Smart for a few years now, I like him .. but I'd be waaay cautious about hyping him for anything Jazz related. Not better than Burks at the 2 and not better than a few at PG (in our range).

What about his name? He has one of those star quality names. Smart is in line with Luck, Love, Rose, ect.. Names like that.

It is a good one. I've been slackin following him .. even though I've been sayin for two years we should .. you know how he's doin spy?

He's actually been doing pretty well. Like, maybe well enough to put him back in the lottery, if he keeps this up. He's averaging 19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, .5 block, 1 steal. The thing that jumps out the most is the rate he's been getting to the FT line; he's averaging 11 attempts per game so far. That's elite territory. From what I've read, he's finally putting his crazy athleticism to use and attacking the rim every possession. Opposing defenses either have to be posterized or send him to the line...or both. His 3 point shot is really the only thing to complain about (29%), but attacking the rim should definitely be his bread and butter, and he seems to be living up to his potential (which is obviously crazy high) at doing that.

Thanks, spy .. yeah .. he's a major penetrator get to the rim guy .. get fouled.. high energy. Major athlete. I'm just curious to see if he 'gets' team play.

Same. I haven't watched him this season, so I'm really not sure. They have been winning, though...

You've convinced me Hack. Convert his name to Hebrew and post it to the PG watch.

Haha. Im not trying to convince you of nothing. I came to learn. Im just asking all the necessary questions.

Like I said, I havent seen much, but when I first seen him, I got this feeling that he is going to be really good. Its a gut feeling.

Marcus Smart. Say it. Marcus Smart. Kinda rolls off the tongue and feels right, huh?

Actually the more I say it, the more it sounds like I'm saying Mark is smart.
