What's new

Following potential 2013 draftees

Gobert should also shoot in the mid 60's for FT's

and obviously his skill is Interior D, hes close to Hasheem Thabeet in that regard, needs 20-30lbs at least though.... Excellent project for a "weak draft"

i think it would be funny to go after a major upside/risk player at 21, to try and out-do the pick the warriors tanked for last year

specifically Tony Mitchell or Giannis

imagine we can get a player who can make Harrison Barnes look bad, that will be so win.

i want us to move #21 up, if we cant

move it down i want a late 2nd and a late 1st, not 2 early 2nds

if the idea is really risk/reward

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=028cssb4CKM is the biggest enigma in this draft

he can really really really really really shoot, im sure of this

Kevin Pelton is a stats guy and he thinks Bazz is overrated based on his analysis. Here's a part of his analysis as it pertains to Bazz:

His theory on NBA translations can be found here:

Yeah even if you want to give him a "pass" on his low assist numbers, there's no excuse for his low block and steals numbers. An athletic wing with the wingspan of 6'11" should be able to cause complete havoc on the college level.

Realistically, what will it take to trade up to the 9th pick?

I'm starting to think our #14, #21 and #46 & future 2nd rounder, might be enough to grab Minny's #9 and #26.

But Minny needs assurance that they can get KCP at #14. So I think it could go down like this:

- Minny takes McCollum at #9
- If we're able to grab KCP at #14 - then the deal is ON
- If KCP is gone - then the deal if OFF

14 and 21 probably wouldn't get it done. Minnesota has been picking in the draft forever and have very little to show for it. They want a good shooting guard so would ask for Hayward, we laugh, maybe we counter with Burks and the 21? That would probably get it done. We would then be able to get McCollum and still use the 14 for the BPA. Not sure I'd do it but intriguing to think of the possibilities.

i hate this for so many reasons

I'd defiantly do the 14/21 picks to move up to select CJ. As for Burks and 21 I say no. Jazz are in full on rebuild mode and Burks is a part of that

CJ
Burks
Hayward
Kanter
Favors

Then when CJ comes out slide Burks over to point move Hayward to sg and bring in Carroll (if resigned)

I'm against any trade that would weaken our versatility and bench strength. Plus the jazz only have 5 players under contract. I'm pretty much against trading the c4 unless we are getting a sure star in this draft, and there isn't that in this draft.

Cj is going to be a great player, but I really don't see him as a point guard. Which could work with us because we have good ball handlers next him.

This has crossed my mind, too. At the same time, I miss having a pure PG.

As we get closer and closer to the draft, I'm more convinced than ever that Dennis will pick the PG that will fit into the system/scheme that we will be running in the future.

- Is it gonna be run & gun ala Phoenix? In which case go with Schroeder/MCW.

- Is it gonna be grind it out style ala Indiana/Memphis? In which case go with McCollum/Larkin.

- Is it gonna be PnR heavy, ala Spurs? In which case go with McCollum/Larkin.

Judging by all the evidence (Dennis coming from Spurs system, Hiring of Karl Malone, our Bigs, etc) I think it's highly likely that we'll go with the PnR / Grind out style.

So if I'd have to bet, I think we'll go down the McCollum/Larkin route.

Count me in the group that prefers having a true PG.
I am also in the group that believes McCollum can be a true PG that can fill it up when needed.

I would be ecstatic with either of those guys. Obviously we would have to trade up for McCollum which I would do something like Alec Burks for #8 or #9. Or we can just take Larkin at #14 and trade #21 for #31 and #33 or #21 for #35 and #42.

Some more on Giannis. Hope we had someone there.
Rafal Juc ‏@rafjuc
Despite only very few NBA exec Giannis Antetokounbo had maybe the most meaningful game of his career facing tough D & int'l experienced guys
Jonathan Givony ‏@DraftExpress
Giannis Adetokunbo's line tonight for U20 Greece team vs Turkey: 17 points (4/5 2P, 2/4 3P), 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 fouls, 20 minutes

Damian Lillard was the steal of last year's draft. This time last year it was easy to see why he would succeed at the next level. It wasn't that his shooting was spot on. It wasn't that he had the athleticism. It wasn't that he was smart...

It was because he was "humble".

From all the stuff I saw via video/interviews it was clear as day that this was a guy who follows the Lord. He had the bible tattooed on his arm for crying out loud!!!! He was a humble guy who knows what it's like to lead a team. Lead by example. He was hard working. He had a high level of character.

As we get closer to the draft, it pains me to see that Schroeder has yet to demonstrate those leadership qualities.. (especially the "humble" part). Arrogant will get you nowhere in the NBA, IMO.

If Dennis can trade Burks for McCollum, I think he deserves the Exec. of the Year award.
