Maybe he just flat out sucks. Like in practice other players play better than him, so they play in front of him kind of sucking. Not the "I have a ****ty attitude" kind of suck that gets reported about.
I would take him. It's not like I would deny him on my team because of his suckage (simply just because he is young though), but the fact remains that he sucks. I'd take Jones or Motienjuas before though due to their ability to stretch the floor better.
From what I have seen- he has questionable shot selection and hasn't figured out how he can play NBA defense. His jumper is weak. He lacks great length for the 4 position so he needs to play defense intelligently. He isn't much of post guy.
I believe Sacramento killed him because no one was setting him up. He is not a shot creator at this point.
Houston needs bigs who can shoot from mid-range/3 pt line.
Note:
He is just slightly bigger than Millsap. And really he needs to follow Millsap's career path- rebounding is his primary skill.

Back on the original topic, I would strongly consider Jones but I consider Monty too soft to play regular NBA minutes.
The problem with a sign and trade is that Millsap under the new CBA gets no benefit. He would get the same contract either way. Potentially we would still do it to clear some more cap space for Houston.
So any deals for the young PF's would likely be separate deals.
