Following potential 2014 draftees

Isnt Lyle a SG and Oubre a SF? Because i was thinking Brannen Grerne would be a roadblock for Oubre who will be a very good player by his sophmore year and the starting SF

You're under-valuing Oubre imo. He's a STUD SG. I think he moves up to a top 7 player in the class. Bet that Oubre is planning to play SG, as he should be..

With our pick, no. With Warriors pick, probably not.

As I see it, Hayward is/has turned(ing) into an SF and is exceeding at it. Would only see Wiggins or Parker as an upgrade if Hayward stayed in starting lineup and went to the 2 and we played a wing men approach.

We should always draft BPA available, so if GRIII is, then sure. If we have a situation where BPA isn't clear, I think we need a stretch 4, possibly another PG (seems to be a lot of good ones in this draft), or another 2 if Burks struggles and Hayward is playing the 3.

Damn fine post. Only disagree with parts of the last paragraph.

Reading what you've written about GR3 and comparing it with the highlighted qualities in the scouting vid I wonder if anyone watched it?
My concern with him is being a severely undersized SF(In height, wingspan, weight). To defend with his body efficiently he'd have to be very very quick on his feet. Always so far ahead that attackers consistently bump into him drawing charges or altering the driving lane so much that it's an easy job for the help.

I'd have Aaron Harrison rather than him in the 15-20 range. And I'm by far NO Aa. Harrison fan.

I think GR3 is plenty big to play the SF in the NBA. It's not always about height, wingspan, etc. It's how strong you are in holding your ground and stopping the other guy from backing down on you. I have no doubt that he can do that in the NBA no problem at all.

BTW GR3 played PF for Michigan most of last year and while he didn't dominate, he more than held his own against other teams' PF defensively at least, no problem whatsoever.

So you turned off the vid at the "weaknesses" part, where was shown how he got pushed around the paint. 3.8 / 40 def rebs.
He doesn't have size to play a prototype SF. My bet he's going to be a valuable 6th man kind of player in the league as his ceiling.

Well if he was defending PFs in the paint - can you really blame him though????

He was playing the wrong position ALL YEAR simply because Michigan didn't have a solid PF.... Beilein admitted the same. He's pledged to play RG3 at SF this year and to run more offense through him....

It's gonna be a wait and see situation but I don't think you can gather much from last year's performance.

Yes I can. He's playing against kids, out of which nearly none will ever see the NBA. And he getts bullied by them. You know if he had these crazy numbers and hops to compensate for his body deficits and underdeveloped techniques. Then I'd give him a nod. But the way he is, HELL NAWWWW! He's got to prove me wrong. There's nothing that's truly elite in his game right now. So with a 15-20 pick you rather pick someone who has that special ability and/or upside. There's a lot of players I like that are projected 2015 right now by DX and I have a lot of players projected behind GR3 I'd prefer over him in current projections(WCS,McGary,Selden,Warren).

Bro.. he was a freshman playing in the Big10...against teams like Michigan State, Indiana, Illionois, Ohio State... solid, solid teams last year.

I don't think you can say he was playing against kids... LOL

Was there anyone older than 22? Those that were 22, weren't NBA caliber, or they'd be in the league themselves. He played against kids.

Burks is 6-6, could you imagine him playing SF? No, he belongs at the 2. Hayward is 6-8, and is turning into a beast at SF.

If we're talking GSW pick, I have my eyes set on Selden, James Young, McDermott, Kasey Hill, or Aaron Harrison as potential candidates --all of which have an elite skill. GRIII might look good next year at SF, but that doesn't mean he's suited to play it as a proficient NBA starter (especially over Hayward). I'd prefer to draft bench players with second rounders.

I totally think I can say that. Tell me from the top of your head who the SFs for those teams are...I checked DX Top100 prospects. 3 SFs out of that conference. Only 1 remotly high rated. So it's not a good sign he struggles against them imo.

Hmmm.. I thought I made it clear he was mostly playing against PFs last season.......

Then tell me the PFs...And he's projected as SF long term, so I guess he'd play SF at times ;) The vid also looked like that against the faster guys he guarded.

I do get that, but he could be a value pick with our GSW pick... I still like him though. I have a soft spot for underdogs...

Yes.. could be a value pick with GSW.. I just don't like the mocks having him top10/mid lottery.
How is he the underdog??

For the record, I'm with btp in this little ongoing debate.

Only thing I'll say in 3's defense is he is a nice athlete...

Having said that, I staterd my position on the matter a couple pages back. He's being over-valued in the mocks and will slide once the season gets underway. Burke was the catalyst on that team and will be sorely missed more than they know.
