Following potential 2014 draftees

Hantler's is right, though.. overall his numbers may be pretty good, but he's more of a hot/cold shooter than a consistent. For whatever that's worth.

And yeah, Matt Jones is a player.

Maybe I'm a little bit too ecstatic about Sulaimon, but I think he'll have a pretty good NBA career. Just look his shooting mechanics and he's got pretty neat handles. He does nothing crazy, but the things he can do he does with low amount of errors. He can spin, he shift gears, that's more than most NBA SGs can do. I also hope to see a couple games of him where he plays PG, as his PnR skills are really advanced for his position. If he can play PG court vision wise he can be very valuable. He wouldn't need to bulk up his limited frame to maintain quickness to defend guys like Paul and his tiny speedster friends.
A good comparison might be: Ben Gordon with defense but less clutch. I really hope from the vids I seen of him that he getts a chance to play more PG, I think he could be the good kind of combo guard.
I don't know nothing about Matt Jones, so I can't talk about that challenge. But Duke's backup PG is trash. So it should be easy to give him 10 min at PG and another 15-20 at SG.
If the recruitment ranks on Jones are accurate, he won't see too much freshmen playing time on a program like Duke.

Duke's backup PG is Tyler Thornton. Average player, tons of heart. Coach K loves him. He's also a team captain. You won't be seeing Sheed playing PG over him unless if Thornton gets injured.

Now don't get me wrong, I love Sheed as a player, but I watched every single Duke game last year, and I watched Sheed play over the summer. He's a good player, but he is definitely struggling right now and he is a streaky shooter. He did play great defense for a freshman though, and never seemed to get too rattled by the pressure of major college basketball. He's really nothing like Ben Gordon. I would say he's fairly comparable to Gary Harris (not as consistent of a shooter though), which also states how overrated Harris is.

Now you can try to predict Matt Jones' playing time based off of his recruiting ranking, but that would be a mistake. He'll get minutes, he looks way better than I thought he would as a freshman. For the most part, recruiting rankings are garbage. ****, if we can barely rank how well players hit the NBA after playing in college against decent to good athletes, imagine how hard it is to rank high school kids.

Sheed with be a 6th man or backup PG/SG. He just doesn't the ideal height for an NBA SG, nor the athleticism to make up for it.

That's in my mind of course, but it usually means how ready you are for college. And usually the #40 guy is less ready than the #1 guy. And most freshmen that aren't 5 star recruits don't see more than 20 min of playing time if I'm not mistaken. And on Duke 20 min of playing time is different than Georgia Tech...

Buddy, I'm not saying he's going to get 20 minutes. I'm not giving specifics, I'm just saying he's going to get playing time and he's going to push Sheed for that starting spot. That. Is. All.

We'll see. You're obviously closer than I am, so I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt. I just think he deserves to get 30 min of playing time with some at the point by what I've seen from him.

Carry on. You've seen far more of the guy since he's hit college than I have. I saw about a dozen HS games and maybe only 5 or so college games.

Thanks for the feedback.

He's Kabongo at PG.

I don't know. Watch his DX vid. His PnR decision making is more than solid. Kabongo seems to be a guy who has severe eye problems, who can only see what's happening 2 feet around him.

Jones can shoot, the Duke coaches have said he's the best perimeter defender on the team, and he has better size than Sheed.

He's going to push for his playing time. I could see him starting by the end of the year.

Tonight is Kentucky's first game against players other than their teammates (a.k.a. another team).

Will provide recap.
