Srs question: who is he gonna guard?

No idea.

Lots of poor defenders in the nba though...... not many (if even one) shooters of his caliber though

Kyle Korver has stayed in league for ten years plus now.
He can't guard anyone but he's 6' 6" tall and can shoot over anyone.
McDermott is taller and has a much bigger arsenal of shots.
I would love Jazz to get him.

Yep.

Hornacek was a poor defender too.
I dont really know if ray allen, mike miller, danny green, reggie miller, are good defenders or not but they all can shoot so well that they are valuable.

Even a guy like bellinelli has had a decent career.

I could see mcdermott playing a similar role to danillo gallinari

very wrong. He's always been an under-rated defender.

Ya
Korver defense most likely better than mcdermott

Why can't McDermott be a good defender?
Hayward has surprised everyone.

Not saying he cant.

I said most likely wont be.

I cant be sure till i have seen him play more. (I saw very little of creighton during mcdermotts career)

Maybe, maybe not.
But one things for sure, McDermott will be one of the best shooters in league the minute he steps on the floor.
That has to be terrific for any team that gets him.

Maybe he can give him a slight push in the back after screening, so he's getting more explosive!

I think Adams decision to enter the draft is good. His skilllevel is high, his weaknesses can be best addressed by NBA teams where NCAA regulations fall short.

I doubt a player's draft status changes a lot if they stagnate between Jr and Sr season.

NO afaik can't trade their #1 for 2 consecutive seasons.
Also wouldn't want that trade.

Sacramento owes their top10(?) protected 1st rounder to Chicago

Don't have an opinion on the Boston suggestion and wouldn't want the Lakers trade.

I don't know his shooting mechanic is still not fluid and very slow. Maybe it's improved.

Why does it seem when Jazz fanz want to trade up to get say Parker/Wiggins they give away the farm but when they suggest the Jazz move down they practically give the #5 pick away?

Seriously, people overrate individual defense today. With the no grabbing rule, no one plays shut down defense. There are a handful of guys who play great/good defense in the NBA. Do you think Seth Curry defends well? James Harden? Carmelo? Dirk? Korver? In the NBA it is more about schemes and team defense. Yes there are guys like Noah but even Paul George gets abused sometimes. McDermott isn't a walking stiff, he has athleticism and he plays hard. Do I want him defending the go to guy, no but is there any guy on the Jazz who is going to shut down Dirk, James, Durrant, etc.

The Jazz need to have defensive system implemented and then teach good team defense. Watch the Spurs they play very good team defense. There is no way the Jazz get McDermott unless they move back in the draft but I think he is being underrated because he can make shots which is just as or more important in some cases than defense.

One thing Lindsay has talked about endlessly is how the Jazz need shooters. That its a shooting league and we need shooters.

I've said it 100 times and I'll keep saying it. We are moving up or back. We aren't picking at #5. We are moving up or moving down. We will end up with one of the top 3 or McDermott. Picks 4-7 don't help us. The question is, what would we want from Sacramento? What would they want from us? Who knows. I think all hell breaks loose on draft day. Multiple trades every which way.

There really isn't individual defense anymore.
