What's new

Following potential 2014 draftees

Gobert is our future center so.... Favors will have to play the 4. This is a big reason why I don't really care for another pf.

I hope to god we don't draft Vonleh

I thought that as well about Gobert, but I think he's still a good 3-4 years away from contributing in a big way.

For "now", Favors' our Center.

Vonleh and Smart not looking all that great on midrange pull-ups, the stroke from 3 was on point though

did notice that vonleh isn't as comfortable shooting off the bounce as he is in catch and shoot situations.

also noticed that he was the only one really taking the drill seriously. he seems like a great kid that takes the game seriously.

What are you talking about? Smart only made like a quarter of his catch and shoot 3's....

I know it is just a workout but after watching Smart shoot I am even more convinced that the Jazz should pass on him at #5. Vonleh has looked slow in the couple videos I've seen of him and he wasn't that impressive either. Again, it is just a work out but I wasn't that impressed with either guy in that video. LaVine might be able to jump high but basketball is more about jumping high.

Has no one ever told Smart to stop dipping the ball so damn low before he shoots it? I don't understand why a shooting coach would allow him to keep doing that.

So all those games that Marvin started, Favors WASN'T at the 5?
I don't think it's an interesting take away, at all. Derrick has limited range; he has to play near the rim. Kanter, Vonleh, or whoever else the Jazz have playing with Favors need to have solid outside games.

The only reason Derrick likes to say he's a PF is that he has an easier time pushing around the avg PF near the basket ;)

If the draft were tomorrow, my guess is the Jazz would take Vonleh.

I wouldn't complain. Even though it's a risky move. But the Jazz need to find their cornerstone this year, otherwise you could trade everyone away and go full Philly.

Just watched yesterday's finals debut!

Next time I read someone making categorical statements about international players, I shall answer with:

"SAN ANTONIO SPURS"

This year's core rotation consists of:
Parker
Duncan
Leonard
Ginobili
Green
Splitter
Diaw
Mills
Belinelli

This makes 2 Americans, 1 from the US Virgin Islands(However you wanna count that)

together with 2 Frenchies, 1 Argentinian, 1 Brazilian, 1 Australian and 1 Italian

one of the biggest difference between euro players and American ... AAU. when euro players are young they have to earn playing time against men American players are coddled.

smart hit all of his shots from the left side. Give him a coach with half a brain and he will be a 100% shooter in this league.

Also, you know, listening to interviews with smart you know, he sounds like a good young man you know, but he could probably cut back on the you know's you know

One thing I noticed about Smart's college games is that when he shoots, he turns his body and doesn't square up his shoulders. He has several bad habits that are hard to break. I hope we don't draft Smart.

You know, players haven't changed in 40 years. When I was a young boy my father used to take me to the AAA baseball games. Back then it was the Salt Lake Angels at Derks Field. We'd listen to the post-game show on the way home. One year - just for fun - we decided to count the number of "you knows" the players would use. I remember one particular time, in just a short post-game interview, the count was 20+.
