Following potential 2014 draftees

Yeah I understand that. I just think if a couple read it, one has an opinion he wants to share that can light a discussion. Then others will respond to that and stuff.
I wanted to take a look at the time span of one and dones and look how their careers developed. So I was like: Instead of picking a few and then reading whine about how I cherrypick, I simply looked at all of them. It's only 8 years or something since this rule exists.
And things that I noticed was that nearly everyone other the future all-nba 1st and 2nd team guys had productivity issues early on. Very few successful point guards are one and dones. And those who became very good also had problems to get going.

Questions I can derive out of it are:
-Do playmakers benefit more from learning in college and improving their leadership skills?
-Is a point guard's talent less visible when they're very young and thus they're getting the recognition at a later point(e.g. sophomore season)?
-Are NBA franchises simply bad at evaluating point guards?
-Is the superior physique of wings and bigs a difference that leads to them more often being a one and done and having a quicker translation of their bodies?
-Do their bodies make it more simple for scouts to grade them as good talents?
-Is it fair to withhold next level talents like Irving, Davis for one more year because all the other guys that use their hype to get drafted hurt the league and perception of rooks?

DX has Jazz picking up Vonleh with the 7th pick.

Who do you guys think he could be? Is he a starting PF caliber player in the NBA? Is he more of a Tyrus Thomas/Gibson type player, or does he have the upside to be a Chris Bosh type?

Serious responses only, please no vonleh/volley type jokes.

Gibson isn't bad. Vonleh is a little bulkier though and should translate into being a better rebounder. His flashes of three point shooting also give him a higher scoring upside than Taj.

This is one of the few highlight reels available for Vonleh. Notice the good flat footed leaping ability he has at 1:31

Marcus smart doing his thing. I think you have to be crazy to grab Exum over him. My top 8 are shaping up like this:

1-Parker
2-emblid
3-wiggins
4-smart
5-vonleh
6- Exum
7-Randal
8-Gordon

We should end up with one of these guys.

Edit- jazz big board. I think I still like emblid number one as far as potential and talent go. Just think the jazz would draft Parker over him.

I would still take Exum over Smart. I think Exum is going to be a better version of MCW and might even be comparable to John Wall. I like Smart's competitiveness and motor, but I think he's a bit more bark than bite. His offense is still pretty raw.

Vonleh has nice physical tools and is a 2-way player. He's not as explosive a talent as Chris Bosh, a guy who can up-fake and drive with a fairly quick first step. Physically Vonleh is a lot like LaMarcus Aldridge or a young Rashard Lewis. He has a good sense of basic fundamentals and has a few instances of explosiveness, but the question is how hard he's going to work to develop go-to moves on offense and how hard he's going to work to try to physically impact games. He's not going to come in and dominate the league, but he could be a 15/8 player at the PF spot who does a bit of everything and defends at a pretty high level.

Personally, I don't think he's a better prospect than Kanter. Right now, it's not clear to me what Vonleh does that's better than say Terrence Jones from Kentucky.

I agree with the first sentence. After that I'm 50/50.

I like your board minus Exum. Unless the NCAA dudes step up in the tournament.

So has Warren improved his play significantly or is it just that NC State is basically Warren vs 5 every game?

Warren is underrated imo. 13 straight 20 point games, hes scored 20+ in 25/29 games this year

now averaging 24 and 7 on the season (in 35mpg) last year he was 12 and 4 in 27mpg, id say thats significant improvement..

Vs Cuse he clearly outplayed CJ Fair and Jerami Grant, they needed help from the refs to stop him watch this would be game changing bucket get taken off the board @1:15..

Keep an eye out for Senior PG Kendall Williams from New Mexico in the 2nd round

6'4" 180lbs, hes got great speed and very good hops (capable of fancy in-game dunks), is shooting 41% from 3 on 4.6 attempts per and gets to the freethrow line at an astounding rate
Williams is the reigning Mountain West Player of the Year, and is the all time assist leader in MWC history

heres highlights of a game from last season where he scored 46 points on 16 FGA's
