IF he is there at 23 you take him. We would probably have to wait 3 years. The Bulls have done the same with Mirotic. By the way for our European posters, any reason Mirotic's minutes are down lately?
Shooting slump
no one did, but people are quick to throw away Alec, i say Trey is easier to replace.
Patty Mills isnt going to cost what some of these top PG's will, he has not shown the propensity to turn the ball over more in extended minutes, hes asked to shoot plenty for the spurs and he does it at a prolific rate.
for all the 'we need to swing for a homerun' garbage i read about the 5th pick, Id much prefer to swing for a Homerun by signing the dude who just torched the finals, hoping he shoots the lights out.
Patty will showcase his talents running a team for Australia at the FIBA's this summer too.
also its rumored Phil Jackson wants him as the PG of the Knicks, I like that endorsement. They are going to try and offer him their Mid-level exception.
I have no problem giving Patty alittle more than that, 19 mil over 3 years works,
How is adding the centerpiece at #5 garbage. How else are you going to do it? Do you really think star players don't matter?
I guarantee you that Kawhi Leonard will get significantly more whistles on offense after this year's playoffs and also less on defense being in the DPOY conversation now.
Having someone you can turn to once your offense doesn't work for a couple possessions is crucial for good teams.
So the urgency of ending the rebuild with your franchise player is important. Even if the Jazz don't get instant impact by their addition next season, they won't finish below 30 wins if Snyder can coach. Next season it's a lower pick in a draft that isn't as deep as this one. Would make you rely more on luck to find your George/Leonard/Drummond with a double digit pick.
It's also obvi why Jackson likes him. He wants to play triangle, and his shooting with an extra degree from the Spurs passing school make him an ideal fit for that style. #bangforthebuck
So....DraftExpress still has Aaron Gordon at #10 in their mock draft.
They must not be fans. They put him behind Stauskas.
Givony doesn't like his skill level. You can see that in various radio appearances where he discusses the draft. Can't say how executives feel about it, and if their opinions are a match to his.
If it's only his opinion he'll put him higher in his last mock an hour before the draft begins. NBAdraft.net doesn't like him as well, others I have seen have him very low.
The main idea I'm getting at is that I feel Patty Mill's best role is as an energy player coming off the bench.
Yes, he has good shooting percentages, but how much of that is because of the Spurs offense? It's similar to how the Jazz used to have quality role players under Jerry Sloan who would get larger contracts from other teams, and promptly play worse. The system makes a difference.
Do I think Mills is bad? Not at all. Do I think he's the starting PG on a quality team? Not at all.
But yeah, keep on comparing the percentages of a player who got put in beneficial spots and was basically only asked to shoot, and a player who was asked to run an offense as a rookie. There's no difference there. Nope, not at all.
And it's funny you keep on bringing up Saric. Yes, I like him as a prospect. I don't believe that I advocated him with the 5th pick, but you can keep on saying that if you wish. I could bring up how you thought Alec Burks would be a great PG, or how Alex Len was a 97 out of 100 on your scale. Who cares though? We all miss on players and we all hit on some players. The only person who seems to give a **** is you.
One difference is that teams were hunting the Spurs, watching film of Mills, game planning a little.
Teams that played the Jazz, didn't do a lot of preparation. So Burke had a lot of room for error at hand.
Burke's age was more like the typical junior when he entered. Other guys have had faster learning processes, but I'm willing to give him another look next season and see what he can do.
But if you put a good offer on the table, I'll take it and let him walk.
Y'all saw Saric just signed a 3 yr deal in Not-America, right?

No reliable source. If my memory doesn't trick me, Ford was involved in the previous report that linked Saric to Turkey, which was a bitter ex agent talking out of his ***.
Givony is very close to Saric. If a contract had been signed indeed there would be a tweet from him.
So I'm waiting for an official statement and not some rumour from Ford...
