Following potential 2015 draftees

Yeah, probably. There would obviously be flashes, though.

If we end up with the 5th pick and he's still on the board, I couldn't pass on that kind of upside.

Assuming Okafor, Russell, Mudiay, and Johnson are gone, I guess I wouldn't be mad. Think I might like the Porz kid more though.

BPA

Portland missed on Jordan because they had Jim Paxson and had just drafted Clyde Drexler in the previous year... When you are drafting in the lottery always draft BPA!

That is of course if you think that Towns is the BPA. If it's a tie with some wing, I guess need would have to be included in the criteria...

Exactly. Utah is already 2-deep at every position. Granted, we need upgrades at some positions, but the point is that when healthy, we don't need to count on minutes from whoever we get. If that player is a project like Towns, that's ok. If the draft pick is ready to contribute right away, Utah can make moves to free up playing time.

Some ESPN pundits, including Kevin Pelton, think Gobert is one of the most promising young centers in the league and potentially a top-5 center in the future. It's starting to become a process of projecting how some of these young players will develop, including the guys we have and the guys we're looking to draft. Gobert might learn to score from 10 - 15 feet better than Towns learns to dominate inside. Gobert is also better defensively than Towns and runs the floor better.

Towns is more talented than Kanter. Kanter makes up for a lot with his effort sometimes, but I'd take Towns on the roster over Kanter.

I agree that the Jazz have to take a hard look at Porzingis vs. Towns. A 7-footer that can run the floor, score with either hand, nail 3s, and deliver sharp passes to the post would sure be nice to have. Porzingis can play PF out on the floor, whereas I'm not sure Towns really can.

The question I have about Towns is what he can do that Favors can't or won't do. They have very similar standing reach and motor. If Towns develops, he might be able to take over a game offensively better than Favors. But that's the question you have to ask yourself, I think.

Towns will almost assuredly be a better offensive player than Favors.. If he isn't already.
I don't have an opinion on Towns vs. Porzingis because I haven't seen the latter play an actual game.

Never seen poorenglish play, but I don't get all that excited about Towns. He would take a while.

Favors needs a running hook to complement the jumpers he's working on, and he needs an up-and-under move, but he could soon become a go-to scorer. There just isn't much shiftiness to his game. He's mostly a pick-and-roll guy with an occasional twist.

No argument from me. Tbh, he has been underwhelming to me vs my pre-season expectations.
With Booker better than I thought .. As well as Ulis.

Ullis is solid. He looks extremely good playing for Kentucky since he's way more skilled than the dudes you've had 'round there recently. Probably similar thing with Booker.

Booker and Ullis are the type of guys that Duke always tries to get…skills over athleticism. Typically the opposite of what Kentucky usually gets. You need a good mix of both to succeed. Cal seems to be learning this, K not so much.

I don't know if you guys knew this one existed on the net or if you just had no time or desire to watch it but here it is in case you want to see a full game from Porzingis(and Hezonja too):

Im with ya.

I think I'm on board with everyone else for Russell being first choice.
After that I like towns, then that mudiay dude

Awesome. I'll probably watch sometime over the weekend. Haven't watched anything on Porzingis or Hezonja so that will be good.

Will rep when able.
