How can anybody consider Kanter and not Favors as the long-term future of the Jazz is beyond me...

Because Favors has real trade value, while Kanter is an undervalued asset. Neither is a true center. Plus, within a year or two, Gobert might be able to do everything Favors does and more.

Favors is much more a two way player than Kanter ever will be. Bigs like faves don't grow on trees.

Favors is a good player, no doubt.

From my perspective, a team with Exum / Hayward / Leonard / Kanter / Gobert would be a better, more versatile team with better distribution of talent than a team with Favors, Kanter and Gobert. Right now, Favors is mostly a pick-and-roll player, though he has a few iso-post moves. The thinking is also that in a year, Gobert should be able to replace much of Favors' production at center. Gobert's PER is only a few points behind Favors'.

I can understand if it's just too soon to make a move with Favors, in part because there are a number of other young players, including Hood, that need to develop and be evaluated.

Favors isn't untradeable. The question is what would be worth trading him for. Of all the Jazz players, Favors could likely net the most in a trade.

Kanter is a liability!! I have no idea how people can't see that! He's a complete liability in defense, and he's a liability in offense whenever he's not the finisher of the attack. This simply won't fly in this system! We cannot afford a low BBIQ guy who chucks 3TO per 36 as a big and can't pass to save his life! Pretty much the only thing he's good for right now is post-ups and catch and shoot situations.

Okay, Jazzfanz have spoken!

If Kanter has a 30-pt., 15 reb. game where also doesn't suck on defense, I may revisit this topic. Maybe we'll just let him walk in FA.

Back on topic - I watched some Okafor. He's really underwhelming in defense! Really slow in the pick and roll, bad rim protector and not really very athletic. Offense looks great and he passes really well from the post, but the lack of any defense whatsoever is worrying. I am kind of disappointed in both bigs that were touted as potential top 3 picks. Even though Towns has been worse off to start the season, at least I can see upside in him defensively. He's been playing OK to good defense, the question is if his offense will click anytime soon. To be fair, if I had the first pick right now, I'd be looking to trade it for some certain quality...

I'd like to take this back. Kanter's defense last night was Boozer-bad.
