Following potential 2015 draftees

Is it just me, or does Russell look like he'd be a liability on defense if pg doesn't work out?
Favbert back there in the paint doe

Probably Exum+Jazz this year+Jazz next year+another future first could do it.

Which is an overpay on our part. Personally, I'd rather see the Jazz get a really good SG to pair with Exum AND keep their pick to strengthen the bench. Dante DOES impact the game defensively. If only we had a SG who could be the one penetrating and finishing at the rim. Big bonus if he's also a decent ball-handler and perhaps has even played some backup PG in the past. Hmmm...does anyone know if that Alec Burks guy is available?

PERHAPS if the trade were Exum and our first, that might be a consideration. That's two lottery picks to move up to #2, which seems fair. Perhaps throw in the worse of our pick or the GS one in 2017. But even then, I'm not sure I'd do it. I'm down on Exum, but I do recognize he's already a very good defensive player. He's proven that much. Not sure it's time to give up on him, even for Russell.

I think russell will be Steph curry.

I would do whatever it takes to get him

Mudiay was so so today... 6 TOs and 5-14 shooting in a playoff game. Chinese season over heading back to the US:

Emmanuel Mudiay has 15 points, 7 rebs, 8 assists, 6 TOs on 5-14 shooting in a loss for Guangdong today. His season is over.

His 3pt shooting still a concern.... and what's with the 57% FT percentage?????

chadfordinsider Chad Ford
In 12 games Mudiay averaged 18 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 5.9 apg, shot 51.4% from the field, 34.2% from 3 & 57.4% FTs.

I wonder if Mudiay could slip past the like of Stanley Johnson if Johnson has a strong NCAA tournament showing? Remember Trey Burke shot up the draft board after a strong campaign in 2013. What if UK wins it and WCS was the star? Could Mudiay slip past him?

Lets draft Devin Booker. I think hell be better than most three point guys in the league.

Not totally against drafting him, but we did just draft Hood for such purposes. I think with our Booker being a free agent after next season a good shooting big man should be highly considered. There may very well be one available when we draft and it should be said he is a very good inside player as well.

Interesting take...

Also with Burks coming back into the lineup, our backcourt could be pretty crowded if Hood can stay healthy all year next year. I think a shooting big man, or even WCS if he's there when we pick could solidify our front court. Defense seems to be DL's MO in building this team, I wouldn't be surprised at all if we pick WCS.

34% 3pt shooting isn't bad.....

The FT's suck though.

The backcourt will be crowded but i think its a good situation. Booker is really young too. He would be good coming off the bench with Hood. Hes a longer term project. I dont think wed be in a huge rush to get him a lot of mins his rookie season. Hed be more of an insurance policy, and future piece to develop.

Depends where we pick too though, if we're picking around #12-#14, yeah I'd be happy with Booker. But if we're picking around #9-#11, there are others with a higher ceiling IMO.

Fair enough. @ 9 give me two players you take over Booker. If current mock drafts stay true.

Well according to DX, I would take Justise Winslow or Kevon Looney over Booker.

Winslow seems like a pretty safe pick for what he brings (defensive ability, open court offense, an improving 3pt shot). Looney I know isn't a favourite around Jazzfanz, but his shooting seems legit (40%), a good passer, also averages 1.4 steals per game with those long arms, so good defensive potential there too.

The problem is: At the beginning of the season Alec Burks was a spiritual twin brother of Dion Waiters. He just happens to play in Utah and none knows he goes rogue on offense. Then he got injured and now even Utah fans don't remember.

Totally different players with totally different attitudes. Waiters is a borderline cancer. He has no self awareness... None. He likely thought they brought lebron in to compliment him.

Alec has some work to do in playing with others but it doesn't come from selfishness / irrational confidence. It is just what he is most comfortable doing. It is what players default to... What they are most comfortable with.
