Following potential 2015 draftees

I wonder what prompted DX to move Kaminsky up to #8. He must have really impressed a few teams in workouts.

Page clicks.

It happens every year, for two to three weeks after the combine the mocks all settle in to more or less sameness. Then for the first part of June the mock draft guys start tweeking their projections to see what would happen if....

Then the week before the draft all the mocks settle back down to sameness again.

Although, of all the mocks, I find DX to be one of the most professional and informed. Unlike others Givony actually meets the players, and is inside some of the workouts.

If the current DX mock is what goes down, I'd want to trade down to get Portis or Looney. I'm really not a very big fan of any of the wings there.

I like your list for the most part. Whoops on the no Kaminsky. Vaughn is a fair bit higher than I'd put him (around 25). End of the second is always tough, just so many alright options that could work in certain situations.

For Montero I could see bringing him in to work out later, but draft pick ehh... He has length but is so light... Don't think he could play anything but the 1/2.

Edit: Just saw Kaminsky at 13, looks good!

Vaughn may continue to climb my rankings, possibly over Devin Booker.. My player Player comparison is JR Smith with a floater.

Montero is definitely a speculative, D-League bound type of pick. Looks like a SG. It's not easy to find guys that size who can dribble, pass and make step-back 3's, To me, it looks like he's got a higher ceiling than many bottom of the 2nd rd guys tho, interesting size/skillset.

Here's the highlights from the Luwawu 25 points (career high) 9/12 shooting including 3/5 of from 3, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steal playoff game. I can't figure how sites have Tokoto ranked higher.

Bobby Portis going to be better than every PF in the draft (as long as you don't consider Towns a PF).

He hustles, he eats up offensive rebounds, he defends. He reminds me a little of Faried, except that Portis is 3 inches taller and talks like Karl Malone.

Hmm, might have to watch me some more Vaughn (haven't seen a ton since high school). Luwawu is right above Tokoto for me, I think both are generally being a bit underrated right now. Luwawu has the higher potential for sure I think. Tokoto I see as Corey Brewer in the league.

Jazz need to have a deal already in place with Charlotte before the draft. #12, GS 2017, lottery protected future first, Burke if needed for #9. Jazz draft Stanley Johnson, then Charlotte gets Devin Booker. Both will likely be available at the respective draft pick and would be great fits for each team. It just makes way too much sense to actually happen though...

Nice deal... at #9 Porzingis, Johnson, Turner and Booker are available.

- CHA already has MKG who is their long term SF - so Johnson doesn't make sense here

- They have 2 quality PFs they are developing in Zeller and Vonleh - so Porzingis and Turner don't make sense here either

- They desperately need a SG who could shoot from 3... Booker is sure to be available at #12

Win/Win.

Great trade - best I've seen so far this year.

For that to happen, either WCS or Porzingas needs to go top 8. I think if Hezonja is available, then Charlotte takes him (don't know for sure though) but maybe they like Booker just as much and Jazz can trade up for Hezonja. Worst case, Stanley Johnson goes top 8 and its Turner, Porzingas, WCS, and Booker. Then the trade just falls through.

Vezenkov is killing one of the best teams in Europe Olympiakos in the Greek league playoffs. He's got 22pts in the third Q. Aris up by 10.

edit: Absolute monster game... 28 points(9/16 FG, 3/6 3PFG, 7/11 FT), 6 rbs, 2 ast, 1bl, 1st for a win in the playoffs against the heavy favorite Olympiakos.

100% this would happen.

0% chance Hezonja is available at #9.

Unless the Jazz likes the look of Porzingis.... a mobile big who plays solid defense and can knock down 3's. Sounds like the perfect complement to Gobert and Favors to me.

Yep, depends on the Tomic situation though.

Ford's new mock draft:

https://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft/mock/?season=2015&version=6&source=Chad-Ford-Mock-Draft

He has us picking Myles Turner, with Kaminsky, Portis, Oubre still available:
The Jazz are wisely being patient and letting their bevy of young talent develop naturally. They have players they like at all five positions and that gives them flexibility to draft for talent instead of need. They will be tempted to take Lyles, Kaminsky and Oubre here. But if Turner somehow falls to them at No. 12, they'll have to seriously consider him. On pure talent, he's a top-five pick. He's a little more raw than a number of other players on the board, but the Jazz can afford to bring him along slowly. If he hits his ceiling, he'll have the unique ability to play both the 4 and the 5, stretch the floor and be an elite rim protector.

Portis v Looney in a Suns workout today.

Hopefully we find out which did better in the infamously grueling Suns run.

That is a lot to give up... in 2013 we traded #14 and #21 to move up to #9.

Again, I'm not particularly high on Porzingis. He's soft defensively. He's only 19 so you're drafting on potential, and potential is why I like Turner so much - so I can't fault people for liking him. But I wouldn't trade up for him.

I think there's only 1 player I feel confident will be special - and therefore worth trading up for: Russell. Oh well. I'd give up on Dante if it netted the Jazz Russell. But that won't do it. I like Dante though. Again, potential. I think Russell's ahead of him though at this point.

Different draft, different value. Jazz protected first isn't any better than the 21 in this draft as its a year later and GS first is looking to be around 27-30 in 2017. This draft has much better players, and 2013 8-14 wouldn't be close to the lottery in this draft imo.
