What's new

Following potential 2015 draftees

I don't care enough to waste an asset on it. Now if it was to trade up for Hezonja/Porzingis/Russell I'd lose assets within reason in order to get those...

If the opportunity to chase one of those guys evaporates, I'd toss a couple chips to move into the top 10.

I like Hezonja and Russell. And then Turner. Trading up to 9 should get Turner but not the others. I was kinda meh on Porzingis until the private workout everyone was gushing, but then I read something by a guy who apparently had watched Porz in games and said the private workout hid all his flaws. He was still pretty high on him but not a part of the salivating herd.

NBA teams are stupid with this practically giving away late firsts crap. You can look at every draft and their is a valuable player sitting there. You just have to identify them.

What's too much?

I think our core is untouchable right now. In the core I include Exum, Gobert, Hayward and Favors. It would depend on what position we would want to jump to in order to get those. I think top 4 is a mirage and not worth trading up to. Top 4 draft picks will require us to send them Favors or Hayward and I would NOT do it. I think that eliminates the Russell possibility and quite possibly the Porzingis possibility.

Lets assume Hezonja drops to 5. No. 7 and no. 8 are two teams in desperate need of a wing and I don't see them trading down with Hezonja on the board. In other words - I think if we want Hezonja we need to trade up to either 5 or 6. I read a trade offer on realGM by an Orlando fan that I thought was pretty fair, but I kind of doubt they would do it - #12, 42, and Rodney Hood +non-guaranteeds for #5 and Channing Frye. Would you do that? I am really high on Hood, but I think Hezonja can be special. We also address the stretch big question, while they get rid off a bad contract. Would you do that? Most neutral fans didn't like that trade and thought it was too much in favor of Utah, but they are not as high on Hood as Utah fans probably are. I think I would do that trade. If we want to jump to 5 or 6 it will take Hood/Burks + #12 + 1 more pick at a minimum. Would you do that? I think anything more than that is stretching it and I will be really hesitant to do it. So yah... that's my breaking point for trading up to 5 or 6.

If we are trading up to 8-9(for somebody else - not Hezonja, Porzingis) I wouldn't give up more than 1 additional late first and 1 additional second. That's just the trading rate and I don't see why we should be setting precedents of overpayment for 3 spots jumps in the mid-late lottery.

Stanley Johnson has apparently refused a workout with Charlotte. He wants either Detroit or Miami. The implication is that the Hornets are committed to MKG, and he doesn't want that situation. Johnson *might* have a promise with Miami at 10.

Hezonja is expected to be gone by 6 to Sacramento, assuming he gets past Orlando at 5.

The main hope of him sliding further would be the Kings' owner Randive screwing up their draft again.

I completely disagree (assuming the asset is protected future first, or OKC pick). Get the guy you want and believe in, don't wait for the leftovers.

That's the thing, I like all of them about equally and whatever the difference is in my evaluation is not worth a first round pick in my books. Now if they like one of them a lot more than the rest, it changes things, but from my perspective it's not worth it.

Hows about trying to swap 12 for 13 whilst finagling Bogdan Bogdanovic from Pheonix for lesser assets??? (Who wont come to the NBA for another 2 seasons til his rookie scale is up)

Dude shot 39% from 3 this year including;

He may not actually wait. He is apparently in Phoenix now talking with the Front office and Horny.

I really really like Bogdan. I like him better than Bojan Bogdanovic... I'd give up OKC or GSW pick for him without much hesitation.

If I'm Miami I take Oubre over Johnson though, to be honest witchu.

I think Oubre has a higher ceiling, and playing with a purpose and being mentored by the likes of DWade, Dragic, etc, can only be good for him. Oubre just needs to be in a good environment that supports and nurtures his talent and I think Miami is a pretty good fit.

Here is an updated prediction for the draft.

1) Towns
2) Okafor
3) Russell
4) Porzingis
5) Hezonja (Hezonja and Porzingis could flip/flop)
6) Mudiay
7) Winslow or WCS
8) Winslow or Johnson
9) Booker
10) Johnson or WCS
11) Turner or Payne (Turner apparently outplayed Kaminsky in a head-to-head workout)
12) Turner, Oubre, Looney or Lyles (for the Knicks)
13) Turner, Oubre, Looney or Lyles (for the Knicks)

Either the Jazz or Suns will make a deal with the Knicks for #4. I'm still guessing the Knicks want Favors.

The Jazz could also make a deal with the Hornets at 9 to take their choice of Oubre, Turner or Looney before the Heat and Pacers draft.

If it was your job to like one of them better, and you had the chance to work them out and interview them, you would probably feel more comfortable with one than the other. I hope they move up on someone, because it means they like that guy more than the others, and they are putting their money where their mouth is so to speak.
