Following potential 2015 draftees

Just confirmed he does not have a scholly offer but has been scouted. I hadn't heard of him until your post, tbh.
The profile page of Egemen Güven is updated in the NBADraft.net. He is projected at 20 in the 2015 class, but I think he would wait 2016 to join the draft.

The UK games start today (11mst - espnu).

UK will be without WCS and Trey Lyles.

The competition will be tough for a young college team. The rosters include tons of former first round draft picks and NBA players (Horford, Garcia, i.e.). Calipari said he fully expects his team to lose all 6 games but to gain a ton of experience playing against former and current NBA guys.

Will recap after today's first game.

Okay, I didn't expect much from UK going into this game today. They're still a young team with two of their best players sitting out. Not to mention they're going up against seasoned guys in their late 20's that have played pro ball (europe/NBA/etc) for years

Anyway, UK beat Puerto Rico by 25 points.

Aaron Harrison was a delight. Smooth, poised, and polished. Led all scorers. Game has become easy for him.

Andrew Harrison was much of the same but in the PG mold.

Tyler Ulis is only 5'9 but is an incredible on the ball defender and makes the smart play with pinpoint passing every time. Will log big minutes.

Poythress was a beast on the boards, had some monster blocks, and is the ENERGY on the floor. Involved with every play.

Marcus Lee will be a good pro. He's similar to Jeremy Evans but just a better player.

Devin Booker.. sharpshooting SG that hits the shots, high BBiQ.. and is always in the right spot to be opportunistic.

Dakari Johnson was definitely in much better shape and it showed.. he had a couple dunks from well outside the restricted arc that he could not have done last year.

Towns.. going to be a beast. He missed a couple left hook gimmes but the dude is going to be sooo good.

Willis and Hawkins were very good end of bench guys (will be 11th and 12th in minutes this year).

---

With WCS and Trey Lyles in the lineup, the only way UK loses after the first couple months of basketball is if they simply can't make a shot... no way any team can hang and bang with them.

Btw, I always talk UK early in these threads because it's the only team I get much info on until the season starts.

Fun UK fact for this season; The entire Big10 conference, combined, has 6 McDonald all-americans.. the Big12 conference has 8.

Kentucky has 9.

Did Towns not get a lot of play time? Is he the starting PF this year?

Just to note for anybody else reading, because I was shocked when I saw the score in this thread, it wasn't the actual Puerto Rican national team. It was the next 12 guys or whatever that would've made the national team. Still cool though.

Where were the actual 12 guys?

What about Lyles? Didn't see you mention him til the end.

I feel like this year's team should be better than last year's. Your thoughts?

You lost Randle and Young but you gained Towns, Lyles and Booker and all the upperclassmen gained a world of experience...plus WCS should be healthier.

That UK team with good coaching and experience can still win against plenty number of national teams including some weak European teams.

^^^^^ Actually, that's wrong. Duke beat China's U21 team.

I think most college teams only get a shot at the junior level teams. BYU played the actual Italian national team and got beat by 40 a few years ago.....though BYU was missing 3 starters. It was like a 8 or 9 point game at half.

Kentucky will be playing the forreal Dominican team in a few days... the same Dominican team that will face USA. (AL HORFORD.. Francisco Garcia..)

Also, tomorrow we play a French team loaded with Div1 draftees.

Is Gobert playing in that French team?
