I'm starting to view Lyles as the proper recipient of the Vonleh hype
How the hell is UCLA so horrible every year with so many prospects projected to be and actually drafted in the NBA?
28-9 with 3 first round picks in (supposedly) one of the strongest drafts in years(only Michigan had as many in the whole draft) and out of the tourney at Sweet 16.UCLA was horrible last year?
I said nothing about the individual players' play. I was commenting on the team and their inability to capitalize on major talent.Shut the **** you ignorant ****. Kyle Anderson was a monster last year and did very well in the Tourney. You ignorant.
You don't understand college basketball.
and you do?
UCLA is a west coast team so they never get publicity. hence the feeling they have done nothing.

Yeah, I've been watching college basketball my whole life, before it was just prospect scouting for Jazz picks.
NBA talent doesn't equal NCAA success. Completely different things. And talent is subjective. UCLA doesn't have much legit NBA talent outside of Looney (who is a very raw talent). UCLA doesn't many great upper classmen besides Powell, and Powell is just meh (especially offensively). So unless you think Bryce Alford is a stud, UCLA is playing about how they should given their talent and age.

According to rivals, Looney, Bolden, and Welsh were all top 41 players nationally. Sounds like a pretty strong haul to me. Or are some of those guys not there or not playing?
Oh no, I'm not writing anyone off. I understand young, inexperienced players don't come in and star in the league and that it often takes years to become a starter. It just seemed like there was a substantial bit of hype for Vonleh, while Lyles (while getting lotsa love here) doesn't seem to garner the same adulation. I can't understand why not. He looks like he'll be a solid defender and looks much more fluid and makes quicker decisions on offense than Vonleh does/did. Not sure either one will ever have much of a driving game, despite what PKM says about his handles. Vonleh has decent handles, but no explosion to get by his man on the first step. I need to watch Lyles more to get a sense of his athleticism. Didn't really pay attention last time.I wouldn't write off Vonleh yet. Too early to tell.
Same reason I ridicule Otto Porter in his injury plagued rookie season. Even if it was tempting with Cy pimping him pretty hard.
