Following potential 2015 draftees

Russell 4th overall pick now on DX's mock. They know what's up.

He looks like a natural scorer and shooter of the ball, and with the success of GSW and the way the game is played today, someone who can score and shoot the 3 ball like that is a rare commodity. He has good length and that release is very quick, which tells me he should translate pretty well to the NBA game. Look at what Steph Curry and Damian Lillard are doing for their respective teams - both have used that 3pt shot really well. He's also an underrated passer of the ball who's already averaging 5 assists per game (it took Curry 3rd year in college to do that).

If Russell keeps up this type of production, I really think he could surprise some people and could get picked ahead of Mudiay who isn't playing right now in China and has a questionable 3pt shot.

All the criticisms you can make about Russell--e.g., can he defend? can he get to the rim? is he athletic enough?--you could also have said at one time about Steph Curry. Somehow, Steph has turned into a really crafty player that's really, really difficult to guard. It's a combination of how quick his release is, how crafty he is with his hesitations, and his off-the-charts bball IQ.

If Russell can do even a fraction of those things that Curry does, he can be a really good player. He's got good size for a combo guard. The question is whether he's got the moxy to do it.

Just my opinion.

Steph's dad was a pro. He was groomed to be one essentially.

We also really need a guard who can shoot and who doesn't need 2 picks to get a look. The fact that Burke needs to play hide-and-seek behind a pick for like 4 seconds before he gets anywhere on the floor actually kills our offensive flow.
