Following potential 2015 draftees

One of Exum, Hayward, Gobert, or Favors.

I don't find this to necessarily be true. If a team falls in love with, say, Towns, who is heavily rumored to slip to the 7-8 range, and we have the 7th pick, we may be able to swing a deal. It would probably have to be after the fact. Team x drafts Russell at 3 because he's clearly the BPA but they LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Towns and are willing to trade Russell for Towns once we draft him at #7, the GS pick, Burke and Burks. Or something like that. There are a lot of variables so imo we have a shot.

You never know. The draft isn't for six months, so who knows how teams' big boards will shift around by that time.

I agree. We moved up from 6 to 3 in 2005 with only the 27th pick because Portland loved Webster. A lot of ifs, but definitely doable. Regardless, i am starting to like this draft anywhere in the top 10.

How about we just pick up Mudiay and Russell? It would be like having the next Westbrook and Harden and we could finally see what couldve been in OKC.

And that deal was viewed as the poster child of why not to trade back. Teams are smarter now. If Russell goes top 2 as is currently projected it will take more than the 6-8 pick (or wherever we are picking) and another first rounder to move up. If we traded Exum or Favs to get the number 2 pick we would hopefully be keeping our pick.

Russell's game is nothing like Harden's. He'll never have the strength and quickness to drive and collapse a defense like Harden.

Then why are we talking about picking him second overall?!!

I'm not one of those people who would take him 2nd. I think his strength could be a big problem for him, he is 20 lbs lighter than Exum!
His draft stock is a win/win for us either way, it drops a Hezonja, Porzingis, or Johnson to us.

Wow they are really high on delon wright.

Russell sounds like the dude to get

Dude Delon is basically Burks with better vision and the will to play Defense. He's not quite as good as Burks at penetrating but he more than makes up for it elsewhere.

I doubt be is quite the athlete (leaping, speed, quickness, in air body control)

I like wright though.

Wright is a sr right? Look up Burks sophmore year stats....... off the top of my head they were something to the tune of: 3 assists, 21 pts, and 6.5 rebounds per game. About 47% from the field and over 80% from the line.
(These numbers might not be exact since they are just from memory) all that as a 19/20 year old.

I like delon wright alot though.

I just looked up delon wrights stats and they are better than I thought.

They compare very well against Burks stats and are maybe even better.

Good call heyhey

Nice post. Yes, I agree about Lyles. I think he's the most underrated guy in the draft now that everyone else has been discovered and talked about. I see Lyles as top 8 - 10 talent for sure. He's got a lot of versatility for a 6'10" guy, and he can make a variety of plays at a high level. He's not the alpha dog, but I think he'll be a much smoother and engaged PF than Kanter is right now. He could be an awesome part of the right system. If he keeps his motor up, he could look a lot like Al Horford, just with the skills he has already.

After Porzingis, Lyles might also be the next best complement to Rudy Gobert in the front court. That's worth thinking about. Some people are saying Gobert might become a top-5 center in the league. And if he really can play some minutes at the 3, then I'm sold on him for the Jazz. But I guess some people are more sold on Looney's ability to stroke the ball from range.
