Following potential 2017 draftees...

So White Chocolate gave me reason to go back and look at the 2014 draft. There were several good players between 24 and 42 in that draft. I hope the 2017 draft is as bountiful.

Weirdest Questions asked at the Draft Combine...

https://hoopshype.com/2017/05/14/the-weirdest-questions-players-were-asked-at-the-draft-combine/

- If you were the size of a pencil and stuck in a blender, how would you get out?

- If you were on a train and the conductor died, what would you do?

- How many basketballs can fit in this room?

- Why is a manhole cover round?

- Are you the best player we’ll interview today?

- Can you explain each of your tattoos?

- What would the janitor at your school say if I asked him about you?

- What’s your favorite strain of weed?

- What drink do you order when you’re in the club?

- Do you practice safe sex?

:D:D:D:D:D:D

Manhole covers are round so that they don't fall in. That's an old interview question.

The character questions are trick questions -- basically, do you smoke weed, how often do you have sex, how much alcohol do you consume?

Wilson is a good fluid athlete, Not explosive. When you say that word you think of the Blake Griffins of the world. Wilson isn't that type of athlete but he is a good athlete who can jump and runs the floor like a deer but explosive, Nope guess we must have different meanings of the word.
REading to much into he has good iq because of his cuts. Those are designed cuts that Beilen runs. Some players take longer to develop and also Wilson was a good player this year for Michigan but id hardly say he shined. He is going be drafted on potential not what he did last year. He wa the 3rd,4th option on the Wolverines last season.

This is exactly why I say people need to watch actual games instead of just highlight tapes on youtube because had you watched whole Michigan games last year you would of known this. Also like to say Wagner made right choice going back to school. He needs more schooling and next year he will be one of the major 3 focal points to Michigan offense along with Simpson and Rakim abbar( forgot his name) but a solid wing player and someone who could surprise next season and get himself drafted.

For what it's worth I like DJ Wilson, but I also have some worries about him. He has the trifecta of success - NBA size, NBA athleticism, NBA skill. He's very long (7'3" wingspan, 9'2" standing reach) with the mobility of a wing and the length of a Derrick Favors. He has explosive athleticism off both 1 foot and 2 feet. He is the perfect new age big IMO. His length and mobility will help him defend at a good level with Jazz coaching, IMO. He also has a legit NBA skill - he can shoot. I am completely buying his shot. It looks great and it goes in - both from 3 and from FT. His release is very quick too. I have no worries for his shot in the NBA. At the very least I think he can be a 35-36% shooter. He also seems to have good IQ which can be seen on his cuts. To me he looks like a very good modern day 4 prospect.

The problem with him is... the rest of his game is a bit raw and unrefined, which wouldn't be a problem if he wasn't 21 already. I wonder why he needed to become junior before he shined? I still like him and I still would take him no. 30 without much hesitation.

Tyler Lyndon is a player id totally expect to see the Jazz reach to get. Not excited about his game translating to NBA because he is soft as tissue. Don't be fooled Jazz. LEt Don't select him unless your taking a gamble with him in round 2.

Derrick White is definitely a good fit on Utah. More of a sure thing than Frank Jackson, but I guess less upside because of the age gap.

Yes but with that age, he will be able to contribute more right away then a project like Jackson.
Remember he is 23 because he wasn't looked at out of high school and went d2 and knew if he had any chance he was going have to transfer and sit for a year to play for a year. He also grew like 6 inches from summer after high school before freshman year at college. People look at age and make to much of a big deal out of it.imo. If you draft a player and he stays for 10 years then that's a good draft pick and in 10 years he would be 33 and plenty of people that age in older in the league. Players age being a super big negative is such a myth and NBA gms and knuckleheads like PGAB buy into it way to much. Plus at the 30th pick your not expexting an all star or even a starter. If you get a bench player who plays well then that was an excellent pick. YOur not going find gold after pick 20 very often. Sure it happens but happens far less then the other way around.

I really like Derrick White. I like his story :

That is a picture of him as a high school freshman. He's come along way from not being wanted in high school.

He sure made the most of his one season with Colorado. I'd love to see him in a jazz uniform.

I want to keep 24 and 30. I don't see the value in trading up in this draft. The difference in the potential of the players that will be taken in the late lottery compared to the players that will be taken in the late first round is very small. I'd rather get two talented prospects than one.

I would have thought it was because they were heavy and being round you could roll them in and out of position...

Nah, I think the biggest tier starts at 17ish.

If I had to tier it I would go:

Tier 1:
Fultz

Tier 2:
Ball
Jackson
Tatum

Tier 3:
Fox
DSJ
Monk
Isaacs

Tier 4:
Ntklikina
Markkanenn
Mitchell
Collins

Tier 5:
Kennard
Jackson
Anunoby

Tier 6:
A **** ton of players
