Link? Who is this "European guy"?

The Ode to Oden podcast. It's not the main guy, but one of his guest. Cant remember which pod/date it was, but from what I remember he talked about how he is just being heavily overrated because he looks the part. Said he cant stay healthy and he is barely a top 3 player on his own team, which is one of the worst teams in the league (or something along those lines).

now we know why "this european guy" is not an nba scout.

I've been hearing similar things from a few other draft people. The people who have done deep dives on his film (the kind that isnt available to the general public, or you have to pay for) have no come out impressed.

Here's some fresh Kurucs. Now listed at 6'9" and 200 lbs. Hope the Jazz get a workout with this guy. He's 3 years younger than Justin Jackson (UNC).

Is this one of those guys that mutilates squirrels?

Yep. Technically, it's OCD. I got the idea from a Pistons' fan board though actually.

Looks to me like Detroit is looking to trade the #12 for an established player. If someone on their board thought they'd use it to dump Drummond, you were probably talking to one of their least insightful posters. I don't think you'd find that to be the opinion of the majority.

Detroit would rather dump Reggie Jackson, but they're open to moving Drummond, and #12 is definitely in play. In any deal they do, I think they want/need cap relief. They may also have some interest in Bledsoe directly, but again, they'd need someone to take Jackson. Favors would get their interest, especially if the Jazz attached Diaw's ng deal.

You are acting like they are in some desperate position, they aren't. They could easily trade Marcus Morris or Tobias Harris, who are both on team friendly contracts. They don't have any horrendous contracts.

They would probably have 0 interest in Favors. Van Gundy wants to build around Drummond like he did Dwight, 4 shooters around one rim attacking big. The guys they would want off Utah would be Ingles/Hood/Johnson. Their problem this year was Drummond stagnated and Jackson had knee issues that really hampered him, along with his bad attitude. They should get improvement from those two this next year and be a playoff team again.

I think if they want Hood, you have to at least consider that for 12. It could be like SA's trade when they sent Hill off for Kawhi Leonard (Hill was traded the summer entering his contract year of rookie deal, just like where Hood is now). Now, the Jazz have to actually like someone as much as Kawhi in that position to do that ofc. It might come down to how much they actually like a guy like Mitchell. Ingles would be the starting 2 guard and Mitchell would hopefully emerge in the future.

There are a lot of surface similarities between Mitchell and Leonard as far as positional length, strength, and character go. Both had questionable offensive games coming into the NBA, but were thought of as being instant contributors n the defensive end.

At first I kind of balk at offering Hood up, but then again, he is so inconsistent and Utah has proven to be a good team without him. I would be surprised if Detroit would do Hood for 12, but who knows, maybe they would. He definitely fits a need for them as a shooter who could help right away. Plus, with the contract we are about to give Ingles, he looks like he might be best as our SG of the immediate future given his defensive excellence he has showcased. A 3 or 4 year contract with Mitchell as his backup would be a perfect timeline for Mitchel to develop while getting minutes.

Jackson is toxic but damn it would be tempting to take him and #12 and let Hill walk. We'd risk losing Hayward so I still wouldn't do it but from a monetary pov (Jax would be cheaper than Hill) and assets perspective (getting #12), it would be tough to pass up. I just don't know what I'd be willing to part with.

No, I wouldn't take him. Terrible fit.

This goes back to an earlier conversation. Jazz can offer #24, Diaw's contract and a player. Detroit would send back #12 and a player, while saving a bit of cap space -- which they'll need when they re-sign KCP.

If PHX were to get involved as a 3rd team, Bledsoe could come back to the Jazz potentially.

One of the following players should be available at #12: Collins, Mitchell, Ntilikina. Jazz have to think about it.

Jackson doesn't fit on court and is not a good locker room dude. I'd much rather pay overpay Hill if necessary.

Hood for 12 is interesting and if Hayward was signed I'd be fine with it. Would not want to do it now though as it isn't a win now move.

Hood lit the **** out of Detroit last year-- 7/8 from 3-pt. I'm sure they remember it.

With SVG being the GM and coach there is a decent chance that factors into the equation... coaches should not be GMs.

The fact that the Jazz have the ability to include Diaw's contract and still include a decent pick in the draft (24), makes Utah an attractive trade partner for Detroit potentially. Donovan Mitchell and Zach Collins would motivate the Jazz to take a hard look at it.

Don't laugh yet -- I wonder if Detroit likes Lyles at all.

But then again, I wonder if the Jazz like Lyles at all. They could pick up another a PF at 24 or 30 if they keep one of those picks.

If they really want to save money they can just dump Tobias Harris in a separate deal. It wouldn't be hard for them if they really wanted to do it, he is a good player on a good deal.

Too bad there is not a deal where the Jazz send Lyles to get the #12 pick and Bledsoe while Phx and Det get all the garbage.
