Following Potential 2018 Draftees

6'5½" in shoes with a 6'9" wingspan. I saw Tankathon put him in the lottery, not that they know what their doing, I just use that to check the tank race, tried to give y'all a warning a few months back about him as the most underrated 4-star that slipped under my nose.

He's not just an athlete like Gerald Green. He's got some IQ and feel for the game that are very advanced. He's very close to being an Andre Iguodala-caliber prospect, imo

I am interested to see if or how the Jazz pick is influenced by Phoenix this draft season.

Phoenix has a roster full of young prospects, they have 12 players under contract for next season without counting FA's Alex Len or Elfrid Payton.
And Phoenix currently holds the 3, 15, 16, 33, 58 picks in the draft. I can't believe agents or prospects are lining up to go there.

If the Jazz squeeze into the playoffs they will be right there with the 15-16 picks. Meanwhile the Bottom 8 teams are separated by a game or less, so we could see something like Phoenix drafting 8 or 9 and jazz 12-14. I love the potential draft drama.

Phoenix has their own pick and a pick from the Heat in the first round. How do they have a third 1st-rd pick though?

YEah If u really watch him he's got immense potential to really put up steals and blocks, due to that burst and anticipation... Thats one of the first things I posted/noticed about him.

Reminds me, in some aspects, of LaVine

I'm not convinced Jontay Porter is a top-20 pick yet, but he looks like he could be a legit stretch big who can play some minutes at the 5. His mobility isn't great, but it should be enough to guard in space without getting killed. His rebounds are okay for a big that plays away from the rim. He should be able to improve his athleticism. He's got a compact lefty stroke on his jumper that looks consistent. He's shooting around 35% from 3pt right now with a 77% FT%.

Seems like he'd replace a lot of what Trey Lyles was supposed to give us.

He is a 5. Not a 4 at all.

Maybe Jontay will be the Marc to Michael's pau?

This is actually a damn good post. This speaks to the quality of the field, thats really what you should deduce from this.. He is low upside, thats why.

Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk much better prospect.

Except in probably (IMHO) one the most important qualities - Desire. Svi has none

Jontay Porter is a PF/C but he's not like how Favors is a PF/C and performs admirably vs starting C's. Jontay will be ok at the 5 vs backups, he'll get eaten up vs the leagues better C's.

This whole thing where people go "oh everyone plays smallball now" lets put these dudes with 7-foot wingspans at C, it's ****ing stupid and short-sighted and for people to drop Marvin Bagley to the 7th spots in their drafts and then claim he's gonna play C in the NBA with his 7-foot wingspan -- it's all just fantastical to me..

there was all this talk about Julius Randle maybe having a 6'11" wingspan, turned out to be 7-foot, now these fools just a few years later are trying to peg a bunch of PF types with similar wingspans as C's, the game is evolving -- not that fast tho. pump ya breaks kid.

Major slate of action today and it gets busy real quick... I'ma put y'all on the spot. someone respond if they want me to flood messages bout todays action, if I get no bites, so be it.

Jalen Hudson is scorching hot vs UK right now.

I think he's better than Pat Connaughton. He would be an excellent pick for Utah in the 2nd rd IMO.

Shai is showing well in this beatdown.

This is a heavy stone to cast... How did you reach this conclusion?

I was pimping Svi when he was 16 years old. He was so talented but he has not been able to live up to his talent. That is one of the first things that screams desire. the other is watching him on games. He just coasts way to much. He doesn't seem engaged and hangs out way to much around the 3 point line

This "Small ball" theme that seems to reverberate across the NBA frustrates me to. I think Quin is all about mismatches and creating the right mismatch. This is also one of my frustration with Favors as a player. He doesn't stretch the floor enough at the 4 and you can't dump the ball to him in the post on a mismatch and say score the basketball because he is still very rudimentary in the post.

as far as Jontay goes I think he could play some 4 but I worry about his foot speed at this point in his career.

jazz need to do what they can to move up and draft Mikal Bridges. He would be the perfect fit. The question is what asset do the Jazz have to get a team to swap picks?
