Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Some teams might like Rubio enough to have that conversation, but I doubt the Jazz would move him.
Yeah, they won't do that in all likelihood, but I guess that is an outside possibility (and those arent lotto picks), especially with a team like Phoenix since they have so many picks. Would be shocked tho.

I think the Clippers want young veterans. They want to position themselves to attract a free agent, rather than develop a lot of young talent. They brought in Jerry West to manage the process. Their PG situation is a bit light, and they'll have two late lotto picks, since they have Detroit's pick this year. I just don't see the Jazz giving Rubio to the Clips to move up and draft Miles Bridges, Gilgeous-Alexander or Kevin Knox.

I also expect the Clippers to show interest in Favors in free agency when DeAndre walks. Doc Rivers is a fan of Favs.

I could see the Jazz trading a 2nd-round pick or a bit player they don't need to move up 2 or 3 spots. It would be like what they did last year to move from #30 to #28 in order to nab Bradley.

If that gets us the guy we want in the 15 - 20 range, I'd be all for it.

Like the only thing that would be possible is the Nuggets by trading Faried for our 3 non-guaranteed guys.

That's the only remote possibility, but Denver probably trades with anyone else before us and there are probably other teams who can make that work.

But even then, that's going to make the LT a possibility. Jazz would be at 99 million dollars (roughly) for 8 players. Add 3 million in for the lotto pick to be at 102. Add w/e Dante gets paid, which if he keeps balling out, could be a poison offer. So after you pay Dante w/e, you still have to sign at least two more players at the minimum. 5 more if you want a full roster. LT will be around 120 million. It could get very hairy.

Your math is bad. Sending out the non guaranteed for Faried puts us at 90 for 9 guys... add the pick we at 93 for 10... add Dante at 10 we at 103 for 11...

They didnt have anyone at PF other than Faried. They signed Millsap after the trade. And they liked Lyles in the draft. I wouldn't have said it was going to happen, but I would have said "Hey we have this lottery pick, there are probably teams who liked him in the draft". We aint got that player now.

They have Chandler, hernangomez, and space to go get someone so it wasn’t a huge need. The deal was a shocker to almost everyone here.

It's a huge question of if they can. You have no idea what offer Dante is going to get. The draft is before free agency.

I do because I’m better at math than you.

If you believe these draft mock sites, Zhaire Smith looks like he'll be out of our range.
Jazz should be picking at 19-22.

I continue to warm up to the idea of Jontay Porter for the Jazz. Here's some high school tape. He could be a better version of Markief Morris

This shows a nice skill set.

Incidentally, I think Thabo Sefalosha's contract has a bit of trade value to teams that want to win. We might be able to trade Sefalosha and #20 to move up to #16 or #17 possibly. We'd probably have to take back a bit of money, but now that we have Crowder, Exum and O'Neale we might be able to move Thabo.

It's been oft said that I bring up and talk about all the players, which is of course a generalization. If you look at the 3-star recruits i've mentioned, it's really just a handful of them and their success rate is really really high....

Donte DiVicienzo is a player i've been posting about here since early freshman year... his stock is at an all time high, clearly in the Jazz 2nd rd range. I'm surprised there isn't more people clamoring for him. He's a player Matt Harpring will love for damn sure. 6'6" athletic, strong, can shoot, explosive, engaged defender. whats not to like? Gimmie Donte over Grayson Allen any day of the week.

If u go back to any of my posts about him from years ago u'll see I had him pegged pretty much spot on. Even said he could be a priority 2nd rder, not just a player they take a flier on in the 50's.

There was some funny old twitter posts dug up of Donte's nothing too crazy, the best one was along the lines of how his father wanted him to play soccer and called him a ***** for playing basketball..

I like him. I could see him as a bench player. Good size. Decent handle. Confident shooter. Plays defense. Kid has some swagger to him. Good kind of player to use a 2nd round pick on.

Donte will measure at 6'4". but yeah, definitely like him better than grayson.

So the first domino of returning bigs has fallen with Daniel Gafford going back to Arkansas for his Sophomore season. Not a particularly good thing for the Jazz anyway you slice it, it's likely he'd have gone top-20 and pushed whoever else their looking at back a slot..

PSU's PG Tony Carr, a former 4-star PG_AB favorite, is entering the draft and hiring an agent. He should be safely inside the top-40.

It also seems that Troy Brown (Oregon) is not only in but his agent being hired is imminent. their playing it like his time at Oregon is done, which has major implications for college basketball next season cuz if he returned Oregon is the best team on the west-coast hands-down...

I think he's more like 6'5" tbh, could be a deal-breaker with Utah if he's 6'4", putting him next to Mitchell doesn't seem as viable... Even though he's 21 I do actually think he might hav a case to return next year and boost his stock higher. If he's close to the 1st rd he should probably strike while the iron's hot, thats what I thought about Buddy Hield after his Jr. season though too..

I still like Troy Brown. I think he'll be a better pro than college player. He doesn't have super upside, but could be a solid rotation player. He'll at least be markedly better than Tyrone Wallace, who has been getting real minutes with the Clippers.
