What's new

Following Potential 2018 Draftees

There has to be some mistakes in those listing.

One is obvious, they mixed up Jevon and Wendell Carter's standing reaches.

But Landry Shamet only have a 6'7 wingspan? That doesnt seem possible.

Afernee Simons probably did the best out of anyone as his new measurement was a good deal better than what he had last year.

I was hoping Jacob Evans had a better measurment than he did (about 6'6 in shoes with a 6'9 wingspan), but that's not terrible. He just doesnt have ideal size for a 3.

I noticed those too... I’m sure they will get corrected.

Evans is fine as a 2/3 with those numbers. Some of these guys I kinda want to measure poorly so their stock falls.

Knox measured well... one of the Kentucky guys sneaks into the top ten is my draft riser guess.

I think Trae falls a bit... maybe to #9?

Anfernee SImons measured at 6'3 1/4" but also had 6'9 1/4 " wingspan which is pretty good.
I still don’t want him at 21... I’m no longer a fan of guys that raise their stock with mystery and intrigue.

If I had to make a decision right this minute, I would take Zhaire Smith. Of course that will probably change, but he's my guy if we draft at #21.

I dont think measurements affect anyone in the top 10. These are guys who have been measured at events every year of their basketball playing lives.

Prolly right... just think teams may recalibrate after success of guys like DM... seems like a lot of group think goes on with draft boards.

IDK that is just my prediction... someone that isn’t consensus top ten will sneak in... miles bridges may slip outside top ten.

A standing reach of 8'7" for Diallo makes him look good. If he gets his attitude on straight, then he will be a good player in the NBA for a long time.

Keita Bates-Diop also showed enough size for small ball four as necessary. His standing reach was 8'10.5" and he weighed 223.8. I don't know if he is quick enough to guard on the perimeter though.

KBD is much bigger than he listed in college. He's approaching 6'9" in shoes with nearly a 8'11" standing reach. He's got really good size for the 4, where his skill set could make him something close to a Paul Millsap. Just needs to add some strength and up the motor.

Troy Brown will list at 6'7" with a 6'10.5" wingspan. Good size for the 3. Still young enough to add another inch.

Brown is the same height as Miles Bridges, but with a better wingspan.

KBD is ideal size for playmaking, switchable 4. Not sure he can play enough defense and hasn’t shown much in the way of passing but in the 20s I think that’s a great prospect.

All in on KBD.

Jontay Porter is 6'11.5" with a 9'1" standing reach, and still only 18. He does look like he's heading towards playing the 5. He's about as big as Lauri Markkanen.

I know BPA is usually a good strategy. But how does a dude like this even see the court on our team? I think Bradley is our opening day backup 5.

Porter can really shoot and pass the ball. Trading out Bradley would be an upgrade on offense, but ideally we'd get a second pick from somewhere. Guys like Jerome Robinson and KBD would have more immediate impact.

I don’t mind the lack of info if the talent is there to work with. Jazz have one of the top scouting front offices in the league. I have a lot of confidence that they’ll figure out what type of player he’ll be down the road - assuming he stays healthy. Private workouts will be more important than any lack of info we fans have about a guy. I see a player that oozes talent who shouldn’t be anywhere near this draft. If they can vouch for his character and work ethic, I’d be perfectly happy with the Jazz drafting him.

Here are the teams for the scrimmages:
