Following Potential 2018 Draftees

He hasnt worked out for anyone since then. It's very possible it's a smokescreen by the Jazz.
Given that Lindsey has drafted two stars, i think it's safe to say some other GM's might try to figure out what prospects he may like the most. I think Huerter likely has a promise. Whether that's with Utah is anyone's guess.

Lindsey tried to keep the high interest in Mitchell a secret. So I do think it's possible he could put up smokescreens.

Something that's worth pointing out about Okobo. His shooting projection is arguably better than Huerter... or pretty much anybody in the draft. Most analytical projections rely on 3 factors - attempts from 3, 3p%, FT%.... Okobo is better than Huerter on ALL of those.

1. attempts - Okobo 7.5 3pFGA/40, Huerter 6.8 3pFGA/40
2. 3p% - Okobo 41.8%, Huerter 41.7%
3. FT% - Okobo 83.5%, Huerter 76%

Worth pointing out that the FIBA 3p line is farther away than the college line too... Okobo also takes a lot of off the dribble 3s.

His ceiling is high and I don’t see him not being an nba player... so he has a decent floor imo... like if he isn’t a good defender do you see him being so bad he can’t be a solid backup.

I don’t think I’m as high as you are on him (I’d rather have miles bridges) but I’d take him top ten no problem... and ahead of consensus guys like SGA and Sexton.

He’s the guy I’d trade up into the 13-17 range if we needed to... I really think he doesn’t slip past SA.

Where has Huerter worked out since deciding to stay in the draft?

I just looked and couldn’t find any workouts since.

So far I think he’s only worked out for 4 teams: Brooklyn, Boston, Atlanta and the Lakers.

Troy Brown isn't the greatest run/jump athlete, but he's very coordinated, plays on balance and moves very fluidly for his size. These are some of the same attributes that made Hayward more athletic than he looked or based on how he tested at the Combine.

Again, look at Lance Stephenson. He's not the fastest or bounciest, but he's strong, coordinated and plays with decent body control.

Brown's standing vert was 26.0 inches. Hayward's was 30.5 inches.
Brown's max vert was 33.0 inches. Hayward's was 34.5.
Brown's 3/4 sprint was 3.33 seconds. Hayward's was 3.22 seconds.
Brown's lane agility was 11.51 seconds. Hayward's was 11.73.
Brown did 5 reps on benchpress. Hayward did 10.

Hayward tested much better at the combine than Brown.

According to a writer at SI, Huerter has been turning down workouts in the mid-20s. That's one of the factors that led SI to speculate that he has a promise with the Jazz.

I’m 99% sure we didn’t promise Huerter. He has a finger injury and likely got enough feedback that he is cool ******** down workouts.

The way DL talked in that interview they are clearly not settled on a guy yet... stated they had an “emotional” meeting about a prospect that day or the previous day.

I’m locked in on Okobo... anyone else will be a mild disappointment or I will be devastated if we take Grayson Allen or a true center.

I’m all in on this Hayward guy!

Hayward was also 20.

It could be SA or Minny doe... from everything I’ve heard this is total speculation and garbage... we made a promise one time and it bit us in the ***... CJ Miles.

I’m sure we liked Huerter but I don’t think we would have promised him just to put his name in the draft.

Which would make sense....if he actually worked out here! Atlanta worked him out at 19, makes more sense they made the promise. Their GM stated they want to build their team in the mold of GS, a generic statement of course, but could figure Huerter would be their Klay.

This is a hot take but... I don’t give one eff about athletic testing... this ain’t a track meet or strong man contest. Some of those guys train for the specific drills and you can dramatically increase your performance... I’d look at the tape and you can see when guys are deficient.

Grayson Allen for instance tested well in the lane agility and other stuff he still gets cooked on defense... so what does it matter?

I don’t think brown has traditional athleticism but he doesn’t seem deficient. I think you have to have a certain level of athleticism and he has that. May not be a huge strength but he’s good enough there.

wtf is an emotional meeting?

wtf is an emotional meeting?

Not my words... I think those are the words he used... was trying to imply it was passionate but didn’t want to use heated?

I buy these huerter promise theories btw or they seem plausible. If lets say hurter worked out and didnt shoot well is that supposed to actually affect their appraisal of his shooting? I think not.
