Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Curious to why KBD seems like he’s dropping a little? Earlier I would have been excited to see him available at 21.

Love Mikal- pure shooter, great length, versatile defender- prettiest jumper in the draft, imo.

Having said that not sure i could pass on okobo at 11. I'd consider okobo as early as 7 and I'd have some reservations about passing on him at 5.

In terms of mocks, Miles might be one of the most overrated in the draft. Probably wouldn't take him at 21.

Bridges, Miles? Hmm....

Wouldn't be surprised if we target Mikal in a trade-up. I remember Tony Jones tweeting last year that the Jazz love Mikal, and I think he's tweeted the same thing this year. Regarding that trade, I didn't realize Marvin is making 14 next year and 15 the year after. Sheesh, Dennis Lindsey is like the only GM that didn't go full dumbass in 2016 free agency.

I think this board is going to be extremely happy if we end up with Okobo.

I really like him because I’d be surprised if he couldn’t give 15 decent offensive minutes as an NBA player. And that’s a floor level projection.

That’s rare where we are drafting.

Well Rodney Hood was decent for a while... wasn't he picked #21?

Anfernee Simons' measurables at the Combine are comparable to John Wall. Wall is a half inch taller, but they have the same wingspan, similar 3/4 court sprint, and Simons's max vert actually came out a couple inches better than Wall's.

Just an example of how good an athlete Simons is.

Are there any players you guys are really interested in for the Jazz at 52? Or in the second round in general? Right now my favorite second round guy is Gary Clark. I like him a lot. I'm also intrigued by Rawle Alkins and Penava. Somewhat intrigued by Wenyen Gabriel just because he's so young still.

It would depend on who drops... kind of hard to predict. I wonder if Isaac Bonga will be there in the second? Arnoldas Kulboka? Metu, Spelman? Vanderbilt? Kevin Harvey? There is a ton of wings that might fall too.

Yes, I think one of the reasons he dropped that far is that he was essentially a 3yr college player (having sat out one season after transferring) and was viewed as having limited upside. GM's love the 19yr old players who can jump out of the gym.

Hervey. Dude can legit shoot the 3 and looks natural as hell doing so, not just catch and shoot either. Has great length. I’ve read he’s gotten in better shape. I also love small school guys because they’ve not been coddled their whole lives and I feel like will have a bigger chip on their shoulders and bust their ***. I really think he could be an above average starting 4 in the league.

@SCS

Okogie.

If he or any other target slipped into the 2nd round, we have 2nd round suitable assets:

- extra 2nd rounders in 2021 (Washington) and 2022 (San Antonio)
- our future 2nds
- up to $4 million in cash
- #52 obviously

You'd hate him if you actually watched him. One of the softest players in the draft. Knee injury history, high hips, and too skinny.

Amine Noua is an interesting 52nd pick guy if he stays in (or has the international withdraw date already passed?). He's a modern type 4 who is playing starter minutes for a Eurocup team in LNB Pro A. Not really great at anything in particular and pretty raw offensively but seems like a guy who plays with energy, maybe like a Thaddeus Young type.

I’ve heard the soft comments. While I do think it’s tough to teach someone to be aggressive and play tougher, I do think it’s possible. To a degree. I think we have a core of guys here too (especially if we keep Sef) who can bring that out in him. So that’s not a huge concern for me. Especially given his great length which can help overcome some of that.

The high hips don’t concern me too much other than as it relates to his knee history. I think it would be tougher to get into a lower stance defensively or when boxing out in that it could inflame the knee. Potentially anyway. On that note as well, I have to wonder how good his college’s medical staff and trainers are given it wasn’t a major program.

In general, I think it’s really tough to find someone that big with that good of a shot and dribbling ability (looks smooth and natural in transition) and to find it in the 2nd round is huge. I think he has the length and athleticism and surrounding cast here to be an average defender. Couple that with solid offensive game and he’d be an asset.

I also think he could maybe play some 5.
