Following Potential 2025 Draftees

This draft has really come down to 1 big thing for me...DEFENSE...The Jazz need to get a defensive identity. I would love Flagg, who wouldn't, but outside of him I like Harper but he is not a "GREAT" defender or Bailey. They have potential. I really like Edgecombe if the Jazz do not get a top 4. His athletism is unreal.

I think Collier has defensive potential and seems to actually try.
George is as soft as they come.
Sensabaugh just doesn't have the mind to understand.
I liked the potential of Hendricks but with his injury, it will be interesting to see what happens.
Williams has some defensive potential but a popsicle stick is not going to guard anyone.

Jazz definitely need toughness and athleticism to boost their defense. That's why someone like Bryant, Murray-Boyles or Fleming might make sense with the Jazz's 2nd pick. Thiero is worth working out as well.

Also, if the draft were held today, VJ Edgecombe probably goes in the top 4.

Good point made in Jazz pre-game is that we may 'hit' on all our drafted youngsters, which would be pretty unprecedented. Ainge's team should be given credit for that. Sensabaugh was a bit of a flyer, so if he doesn't hit, not a big deal, but the batting average is looking pretty elite, regardless of defensive deficiencies..

Yeah, but again I'm focusing on the 6'6" and above dudes here, if you're a naturally athletic dude at that size, you SHOULD be funneled into basketball. Financially and potential career length are much more rewarding for basketball vs football. Even when you're good in football, the wear and tear will grind you up and spit you out pretty quick. Baseball, again, not many dudes at that size since it doesn't particularly confer an advantage except maybe for pitchers.
Football culture is massive in the south

Kanon Catchings has had a weird season and his minutes have gotten very inconsistent....but he's actually been on a heater during conference play. There aren't many standout prospects in the middle of this draft so he's entered the Carter Bryant zone for me. Great theoretical play with theoretical athleticism+role player traits....not a lot of playing time.

I don't think I'm the first one to mention Haugh, but he's also someone who has entered my radar. Seems to be a really energetic athlete with some skill. Could fit into an NBA team well if he can shoot it.

Not at all.

I think Catchings will be a better pro than Demin. He is so gangly. Like a baby giraffe. Athletic and long with a great shot. He just needs to mature. Super skinny right now. Still figuring out his role on the team (and coach still figuring out how he fits)

Saw someone compare Thiero to Jacquez and I kinda get that comparison. He definitely has my interest with the Wolves pick.
Why get someone who has the potential to be Jaquez when we can probably just go get the actual Jaquez this summer for cheap?

I give an extra boost to young guys getting significant minutes on really good teams. I'm not sure how I feel about Haugh, but I think there is something to be said for how good Florida is this year and how they seem to trust him in his role.

There’s just not a lot of talent in this draft after the top 6 imo….except for bigs with questionable fit. There’s a lot of those.

Feels like I pretty much have to squint on most players, so that means low minute role players like Bryant, Baugh, and Catchings.

Bryant is probably in play for lotto, but likely in between our picks. Catchings and Baugh might be in play for our second pick depending on where it lands.

Having said that, I bet if you looked at a mock draft from this time of year of any previous draft you’d realize there will be lots of movement between now and June.

Strikes me that if you're an unheralded 6-8 wing in the draft you should say you (and actually) aspire to be like Jaylen Wells and Toumani Camara.

Just box score watching, CMB currently has almost half of SC points (25 of 51). That team is so bad, I wish we could see how he would look on a good team. I think he would look even better.
