What's new

For those of you BYU pukes cheering Jimmer...

Ok, religious debates aside, how bad would a college experience at BYU suck? I mean, that university should be charged with theft. Theft of fun. Theft of being a train wreck. Theft of attempting to beer bong a full liter of Jaegermeister while wearing a bra on your head.

Party night for that student body is taking the 1 hour car ride up the Energy Solutions to cheer for a guy who doesn't even go there anymore.

That sucks.

again, i ask you which beliefs you cannot question in the lds church. I have never been told to ignore my doubts. In fact, i've been encouraged to learn truths from a variety of books and study things out in my mind.

then why don't you take a look at some books like "mask of mormonism" (christian based) and compare that with one of your own publications such as the "true to the faith" or another such as that... Ask your bishop if that would be okay... I'll bet he'll say "no" due to the fact that you guys are not allowed to read any "anti mormon" literature... If you guys are so sure of your own religion i would think you would welcome these challenges moreso instead of hide behind your book of mormon...

now the principle of faith is universal across all christian religions. Some things we do accept, do you aboslutely know there is a god? yes

do you know jesus is your savior and paid for your sins? Yes

i don't. really??

i've never seen or spoken to them. But i accept those things on faith.

No... You believe that so that it justifies accepting a prophet that really does nothing but lecture and say things like, "i had a vision"... That's why the lds faith believes that...

How dare people go to an event for fun. Know they not the seriousness of the business of fan-ology?

Seriously, they need to get a life. For example, they should be spending their time posting on message boards.

WHy does getting drunk equate to fun? I had a great time at BYU and didn't have to get drunk or do drugs to do so.

Sorry, but you're either Jazz fans or you're not...

And any fan in that building cheering when Jimmer does something good that is not a Sacramento Kings fan is NOT a true Jazz fan in my eyes...

I hate this states fans... Half of them are clueless and the other half are worse...

And yes, it is due to the LDS culture... A baseless cult, with a rocky foundation at best...

There I said it...

Deal with it!

Feel free to choose another team to support.

There I said it.

Cheer before the game? Ok. No problem. Normal. But he made 3 pointer against the jazz and some people and some fans celebrated. Ridiculous. His history is with BYU. Not the Jazz. There is affection but during the game? It's not normal. Sorry.

By the way, Deron, Okur and Boozer made history with the Jazz. There is a subtle difference.

This would be sooooo much more entertaining if god were actually real. Argue about Middle Earth next.

God is real.

"Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?" Qur'an 21:30

An illiterate man living in the desert wrote that 1400 years ago. He should get the noble prize for the Big Bang Theory and not Hubble.
Also ALL living things are made from water, every single one. All cells contain cytoplasm which contains 50-80% water. Not to mention extracellular water. The verse making the boldest claims that are true is along with the line that asks why people deny's its miracle.

Insha'Allah you accept Islam.

Please see post #27 in this thread, thank you.

You're going to be hating life the next time the Lakers come to town and you see 3,000 "Jazz fans" wearing purple and cheering on every Kobe made free throw.

This could be fun...

I'm an atheist who was raised in a very mormon household and have lived in many communities which are to some degree influence by the mormon faith, so I think the op painting with too broad a brush when it comes to mormons. In some communities questioning the church is very much frowned upon- I know because it was made very clear to me what kind of literature was ok to read and what wasn't due to it being "anti-mormon" or "of the devil". At the same time there are some places where mormon leaders have much more open minds. A few years ago I had meetings with a couple missionaries every week for about a year and all we did was question our own and each others views on the church/religion in general. In conclusion f*** BYU.

You guys disappoint me with religious discussion. Can't we all just make fun of BYU students?

Or the coeds.

What's the difference between a byu coed and a toilet?

You don't have to take the toilet home after you use it.
