Free Agency 2012 Thread

Brook Lopez and the Nets are close to reaching an agreement on a four or five year max deal with some provisions accounting for his foot issues. If done independently of a Dwight Howard trade the Nets wouldn't be able to trade Lopez until December.

Seriously, centers who can't rebound are getting max deals?

Is it just me or anyone else does expect a move from KOC until 18th of July?

Yes it's just me because I'm the only one who puts pink glasses on. "We made our 2 big moves."

We all want another move, especially on some certain spots, you know what I mean. But also we all know it most likely won't be. If it happens it will be a surprise for me.

But I'm hopeful about the time period that is close to the trade deadline.

Centers with foot issues who can't rebound are getting max deals. If this happens, it is officially the worst contract in NBA history.

Well, it least it sounded like there would be some protections to the Nets (or whatever team he ends up on) if he keeps having foot problems. But still, this is pretty bad. Maybe not as bad as Joe Johnson's contract, but it's up there.

76ers acquired Dorell Wright, is this a precursor to moving Iguodala (or even Turner) or does Wright simply come off the bench?

I'm sure that depends entirely on what they can get for Iggy.

They have a hole at PF so whenever the Howard drama is done I'd guess that Houston's buffet line of 4 prospects could look nice to shop through. Depends on how much they like Hawes really. I'm starting to doubt their enthusiasm for Al.

Interesting thought from HoopsWorld: Portland could target Javale McGee now that Hibbert will be going back to Indiana. That would piss Denver off so bad since they've been negotiating with McGee from the start of free agency.

And Paul Allen is pissed at Minnesota for having the gall to offer Batum a contract.

Can we get a link in here with a list of free agents and their status, as updated as possible? I'd be curious who's left in another few days once all these teams overpay for the guys they want. A bargain could be had, though it's unlikely it'll be by us who I think stand at 14 already and almost never go into camp with 15 signed.

I think Denver already offered him 10 mil/year. If Asik got offered all that money Pootown ought to throw the bank at him. Great for Utah if that happens regardless of if he's matched. Go git him Paul!

That's true. If McGee is going to play for a division rival anyway, he may as well be overpaid to do so.

Marc Stein: Source close to process says Portland & Charlotte have indeed told Brook Lopez they're ready to sign him today to four-year max offer sheet. It looks like Lopez is Portland's (and apparently Charlotte's) next target. It makes sense that the Nets want to have their involvement in any Dwight Howard deal resolved today. I'm guessing Lopez just ends up re-signing with the Nets.

EDIT: THEN Portland could go after McGee.

Brook Lopez to re-sign with the Nets. 4 years, $61m. Dallas to sign Kaman. 1 year, $8m. I'd have to expect Portland to make a run at McGee now.

Mavs to use amnesty clause on Brendan Haywood. Wolves and Blazers are talking about a sign-and-trade for Batum. If the s&t doesn't work the Wolves will sign him to an offer sheet tonight.
