Free Agent Rumors Thread

So Okur is the best free agent we've ever signed, right? Boozer's contract ended up being not great
Boozer's contract was great. He would have fetched more than Okur in trades, and was the second best player on 3 50-win teams in a very competitive Western Conference.

Help me see what team needs to use our cap space and is willing to give something good for it.
Hard to predict the next couple years. Houston has been trying to dump players to sign a third star before re-upping Parsons, Boston may be looking to unload Rondo with Smart on board, Chicago may look to make a splash at some point, Golden State has some big, semi-productive pieces they may want to move, and the Clippers and Knicks are capped out.

It's unlikely the current team with Gordo makes any real noise over the next 4 seasons. I'd take the risk and keep the space if I couldn't work a sign-and-trade. $16mm per year is just stupid for a role player.

So...in the years they've had cap space, they've either signed quality players or exchanged cap space for picks. Sounds better than giving Gordo $16mm per year.

Whoops... So G-time's agent did a good job. Is 4/65 that much more damaging than 4/52? I see the Jazz matching this and Jazzfanz melting.

While I think 4/48 is too much, it's reasonable, assuming the cap continues to go up each of the next few years. If that deal is front-loaded as well, even better.

Alright I'm good... clearly this isn't a place where you can have a differing opinion than the herd. When we match Hayward's deal this place is gonna suck anyway... Peace.

Really? There has been good discussion here. We liked having you and hope you stay.

Off the bench with Trey?

Exum trey
Burks bazemore
Hood

It's a little crowded if we keep Hayward.

Is this post making the assumption that Hayseed is gone? Do you have a problem with Hay at SF?

Yes. My point was signing Bazemore is not a cheap substitute for Hayward. Gordon CAN play SF. He played alongside Burks last season once Corbin decided to put the core5 in the lineup together late in the season. Subtract Hayward and the Jazz still need another SF.

Crowded at the 1/2, but only Hood can play SF.

Bazemore can play a little SF as he has a 6'11 wingspan. Hood and Hayward only have a 6'8 wingspan. I know that is only a minor part but it still helps. He played SF on the Lakers a bit.

Marvin

If we're trying to re-create what the Spurs do, what about Diaw who's unrestricted? It's sort of a hypocritical proposition by me since I've said we need to throw our young guys into the fire at 30+ minutes a night but Diaw would be very interesting here in helping teach the system, wouldn't break the bank, and could be the vet presence we need.

Bazemore is definitely a bit small, but his wingspan had me thinking he could play spot minutes at 3. The fact that he played 3 for D'Antoni doesn't inspire me much, though. Dunno.

Who has been just as inconsistent as Gordon. Two years ago he shot 42/33%. The difference is we're 2 years away from Marvin's lousy season, but our memories are fresh from Gordon's stinker.

Marvin is a backup. He'll be entering his 10th year in the league. I'd argue Hayward still has considerable upside.

Marvin probably wouldnt be paid 15 million per year

Ya he for sure couldn't play 3 full time. but spot minutes I think he would be fine. 10-15 a night at the 3 he could handle. If anything it would throw the other team off guard if the bigger 3's can't keep up with his speed.
