He might not win it, but he IS a legit ROY candidate. Easily top #5.

Elfrid Payton is a candidate to win ROY, honestly. Carter-Williams esque type of player.

Reading comprehension

Also I don't see him as top 5. He may reach top 5 for this season depending on which guys get how many minutes but long run I don't see him as a top 5 player in this draft. I would have taken Stauskus over Payton on draft night and I still would.

Never said he's top 5 in the long run. Just said he's a legit candidate THIS YEAR given that:

- Embiid is out
- Exum is not ready
- Gordon is not ready
- Vonleh is not ready
- Stauskus won't get enough shots in Sactown
- Smart's production won't be on stats sheet

Leaving the following players who I think will produce:

Wiggins
Jabari
Randle
McDermott
Payton

There's your top #5. An injury to one or two and Payton is right in there in the convo.

Kent Bazemore off the board for pennies. I know Atlanta is a better situation, but that kid is looking for the most money he can, and if you can argue that paying Gary Heywood $16 million a year for FOUR YEARS is fiscally responsible, then so would throwing an extra million to Bazemore for each of the next two seasons.

By the way, even in a market saturated with teams with cap space, the Lakers were still able to net a good NBA player WITH a 1st rounder and maybe more. The Celtics got a rookie-scale 7-footer and a 1st rounder. I can't recall the other instances off the top of my head, but an infinity of Steve Novak situations aren't on the horizon if you have space to rent.

@WojYahooNBA

Pau Gasol, Chicago working to complete an agreement, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

They signed him to basically the same contract as Demarre Carroll before last season, what a bargain.

Kent Bazemore sucks ***. He played in Dan-Tony's system, the system that makes anyone look good. He is worth a minimum contract, that is it.

LOL @ Sactown...

They'd already drafted a SG last year... If they knew Thomas wasn't the PG of the future they should have traded back and grab Elfrid Payton who's looking like the steal of the draft so far, and Payne.

Payton
McLemore
Gay
Payne
Cousins

That's a legit up and coming & solid team going forward.

No it's not. It's the Kings.

I like what ATL is doing. Solid players on solid contracts. I'd love to see Deng and Stephenson sign there though Indont think they have that much cap space. If they did, that would be an intriguingly scrappy team.

The east is going to be totally different, Horford being healthy means Atlanta will be well over .500, especially if Mike Scott and Shelvin Mack play as they did in the playoffs. Millsap and DMC will be playing for contracts again.

Adriean Payne and Walter Tavares in the draft. Sefolosha for 4 mil, the Bazedgod for 2.

Danny Ferry is bargain hunting, Pero Antic was a great find too.

Yeah interesting how Danny Ferry and Dennis Lindsey are from the same Spurs school and yet their approach couldn't be more different.

Hawks are making small accusations in order to improve bit by bit, year by year. The Jazz on the other hand is searching hard for "star players" from the draft at the expense of instantaneous successes.

It'll be interesting to see how these 2 teams turn out in 3-4 years' time.

That's what I'm saying. Apparently the owner knows best nowadays.

Well in the Grantland video there were other guys that liked Stauskas as well.

Don't forget Nerlens Noel and Nikola Mirotic.
