Free Agent Wing Players (Leftovers)

The fact that we are hearing absolutely nothing on Mayo makes me believe that he is going to be a Jazzman. Either that or he is going to the Spurs because they don't talk either. Both destinations make a lot of sense for both him and the team.

Most teams PG positions are filled in comparison to wing positions. PG's became overly popular after Deron and Paul came into the league. Overrated position in my book. In terms of what to build around.
You seriously think this is a matter of popularity and not reflective of the general dearth of talent on the wing that's been coming into the league for the last decade? ****ing brilliant.

I never said it was the only thing driving it. But it is the biggest reason. The numbers can show it also. Look at the contracts PG's are getting now compared to 10 years ago. Wing positions are not that bad.

I hope Deron can still deliver one of his boys....CJ Miles is available.

In retrospect KOC's comments about Korver on Monday seemed rather odd. It was also odd that Spence would ask him about Korver.....
Since I am one who believes the jazz 'help' the media ask the right questions, I wonder if the Jazz have been talking to Korver about coming back?

I would throw up if that happened. What is Korver going to add as a "veteran" and team leader? Tell the young guys personal stats are more important than helping the team win?

The Bucks are reportedly offering Kyle Korver a three-year, $20 million contract.
Source: Marc Stein on Twitter

Korver is not a starter and is going to get paid like one.

Rather have Wayne Ellington for 2 million a year to shoot 40% from the 3.

I don't think Andre Iguodala will be overpaid. If he wanted that, he would have taken Sacramento up on that offer. I think he is looking for the right situation. Older? Yes... but he's still got some years left. I would not mind having him. I think Burks is good, but not the best player on this team (yes, the euphoria addicted Burkites will attack me now).

I would be very happy to see Iggy at the 3 and Hayward at the 2. Let Marv Williams back up Iggy, let Burks back up Hayward. Get one more solid big and the right mentor for Burkes.

Shooting is important, but defense might be even more important on those wings. Those wings on opposing teams kill us.

I heard Mayo got to the free throw line 6 times a game after the all-star break. If that is the case than I would pay him 32 Million over 4 years. 8 Million a year.
If we cannot get Mayo than sign Dorell Wright.
A guy who can play the 3 or 2. Good 3 point shooter and defender. Take pressure off of Burks & Hayward so they can drive more.

I wouldn't mind Dorell Wright. We could do worse... we need good defense.

He does have flaws. Can't really create which isn't a big deal because Burke and Hayward can.

His shot selection is suspect but most 3 point shooters have that problem.

And doesn't drive much. Sometimes is a little passive on D but overall still good.

I prefer him though over most out of what is left.

Tyreke Evans Verbally agreed to contract (O.J. Mayo is probably waiting for this deal to be completed so he can ask for more)
Kyle Korver resigned with the Hawks. Got paid more than Martell Webster
J.R. Smith is working on 4 year deal with the Knicks. Nothing completed yet.

What was the point of that first sentence? Did I say it was the only thing driving it? Why do you feel it necessary to suddenly backpedal? Give me your top-10 under-30 shooting guards in the NBA and tell me the talent coming in hasn't been poor. Point guards have been the much better prospects over the last 5 years. BPA.

And what makes you think I am back pedaling? I am not saying PG's are better or worse. I think its ridiculous to make a general statement like that to begin with. Who cares. That is not my point at all. Can you name anyone in the league who is underpaid who is not on a rookie contract??? Its the same thing for every position unless how someone sneaks in like Danny Green before his contract being signed.

My point is these PG's in the league who are getting paid MAX money kill the rest of the cap space. And those teams don't win championships. This new PG hype is what I am complaining about. Somehow these dumb GM's think 1 guy dribbling around in circles is going to somehow win a championship by themselves. These guys are ball hogs who dominate the ball and think they are the only play makers. GM's are as dumb as most fans(coaches too) where they look at stats the same way they look at Jefferson but on a point guard level. This is what I am referring to. And I have been saying this for years.
You are comparing wing players to PG's. And honestly that doesn't matter. BUT even if there are wing players who were more talented they wouldn't get a chance to develop any play making skills because we have retards that are selfish and think they run the whole team.
Allen Iverson ruined the NBA with his play. That led to players like Steve Francis and Stephon Marbuary. That led to Steve Nash, Chris Paul, Deron Williams type players. There is a reason these teams haven't won championships. When your point guard gets 80% of assists while in the game.............. Come playoff time defense and game planning tighten up and its easy to stop these 1 man teams. You stop Paul or Deron and you stop the rest of the team. The rest of the team has no idea how to do anything besides catch and shoot/dunk. So they never had experience doing anything else.
Everyone saw how Kobe effected his team when he didn't trust his teammates but the same thing can be said for these guys.

We are referring to different things. I don't care which position is better. Its just like in economics. The broken window fallacy. Nobody sees the jobs that were killed when you redirect money(government taking away from 1 group to give to another). This is the same thing with wing players vs PG's. We can see the stats going up but nobody can see how it has hurt wing players being able to become more.

TL/DR

But for what it's worth I think Kendall Marshal & Austin Rivers are wayyyy overpaid for what they do as rookies.

Why, oh WHY didn't we make a play for Dunleavy? Guy isn't a superstar, but a solid, all-round vet SF, who can hit 3's, passes well, 6'9", excellent BB IQ. Agreed to a meager contract with the Bulls.
I get the sense management ASSUMES anyone signed early in free agency is getting overpaid, which we try to avoid like the bubonic plague...
I also thought Reddick woulda been a nice addition here; it will be interesting to see him paired with a REAL PG like Chris Paul. Maybe it'll turn out he wasn't overpaid...
