What's new

Game #12 Jazz@Denver, Sunday 1/15 6:00 p.m.

After the glimpse of: Hayward Burks Favors Kanter on the floor together, who is the best player near term? Long term?

The thing is that they all bring something to the floor that compliments each other. Kanter and Favors down low are just beasts, Burks is attack first and Hayward is pass first. They could be so good together.

I really hate Big Al. Why is he so, so afraid of dunking the ball? He's 6'10, he's 280-290, and he tries to lay in EVERY shot he takes. He was right under the basket, Mozgov is slow and uncoordinated, and he goes to lay it in.

if our offense had come 1/2 as far as our defense, then we'd be a legit team. As it is, our offense is just too prone to die for me to not hold my breath for 48minutes.

I love the second unit, I tend to check out of the game a little bit when the starters are in. I love the way Earl Watson orchestrates the offense. I love to watch Kanter and Favors use their frame effectively even though they are both raw offensively. Burks, when given a chance, has shown flashes of being a poor man's Dwayne Wade, and I mean that in a very positive way. Jefferson, Harris and some of the starters just seem to go through the motions and play with no emotion or heart. Millsap is another story, my favorite Jazz player without question.

Very true. They are all different players. Kanter looks very good in his "nose for the ball skills." Coupled with his size and touch means he has a chance to be really good (He's already really good rebounder.)

I see it a bit different: 1. Burks 2. Favors 3. Hayward 4. Kanter.

I put Kanter first because, he's already a dominating rebounder, none of the other players have anything dominant about them, yet. I didn't think Kanter would be ANYTHING at this point. He's showing progress each game.

Unless Kanter will get more fast and explosive I just do not see it in him. Rebounding is great but that alone will not make you all star. That block he received today from Birdman was typical example why. Slow, uncoordinated move, got trapped and had nowhere to go and threw a weak soft shot for Birdman to block. Similar situation vs Okur last game, that hook shot he bricked looked like he tried it first time in his life. Burks on the other hand looks so fast and fluid is just natural born talent. Favors has better athletism and Hayward has better basketball IQ. Thats why I ranked them that way.

Funny at the end of the first half when Nene tried to back down Kanter and he didn't move an inch. Kanter impresses even more in that so often young players try to guard with their hands in the paint. When it comes to positioning, Kanter is all body - which is why you rarely see fouls called on him down low.

Alot of your complaints are easily fixed. kanter is a rookie and will learn. Now only time will tell if he becomes good or not but I think that if he puts in the work he can be great.

Ok, you're itemizing bad plays by a 19 year old - isn't that a bit much?

Well, i recall seeing Nene in the RockyMtReview and proclaimed unabashedly that he's a complete bust. He has some of the coordination issues. But look at him now. Part of my (re)newed optimism for Kanter is what i'm seeing plus all the reputation he recieved playing guys at KU.

Burks got murdered going to the hoop, then we got killed trying to get on the glass...has been a VERY one sided game with the whistles.
