They need to run some more plays for Favors, cuts to the basket or something. Right now all he is does is play defense and might have a little of the AK disinterest going on.
I'm encouraged by Alec Burks' 6/9 shooting tonight. I know it was mostly in transition, but at least he gets in transition.

THIS. Both games, we've gone to Jefferson (see: black hole) in 80% of our sets, with absolutely nothing but broken plays and put backs for Favors. If we built his confidence up by getting him involved in some pick and rolls, he may hit double digits sometime in the next year or two. Favors is the least of my worries.
I think he hasn't been as aggressive on d since he gets so many fouls called on him. He hasn't gotten a single block in the last three games if memory serves.
So a direct reflection of this team then.... Makes sense
Agreed. It's Big Al. When he's in the game, Favors never gets the ball in the low post. All he can do is rebound. Both he and Kanter are a bit frightened to dribble.

This is a game to especially look at rebounds (10 RBs and +5 plus-minus in 16 minutes for Favors vs. a measly 5 RBs and -21 +/- in 30 minutes for AJ), assists (2 assists and -13 for Harris in 21 minutes vs. 4 assists for Tinsley and +7 in 10 minutes of mostly garbage play), and maybe blocks and steals.
Conclusions:
1. Jefferson STILL doesn't deserve 30 minutes, AGAIN, while Favors and others deserve more. (Favors didn't score much, but he was providing much-needed rebounding).
2. There is at least one option--maybe two or three--that are superior to Harris at PG.

Everyone needs to remember that Ty Corbin is a Rookie too, or close to it. He needs time on the floor just like the players do. I'll be patient, but I do hope they get better.

They do put a lot of pressure on your defense, basically a nightmare for us right now.
I like the makeup of that team, to have a guy like Andre Miller of the bench to lead the 2nd team is nice to have.
It seems like this will be a common theme most games:
1. Play it close and look good the 1st quarter
2. Offense implodes, causing the defense to implode from frustration from the offense
3. Continue to suck
4. 4th quarter starts, other team has stopped playing as hard. Quick pad stats so it looks like the people who played in the 4th quarter are better than those who didn't.

That's an interesting way to characterize the first five minutes of the first quarter and the first nine minutes of the third quarter, with Favors starting alongside the rest of the starting lineup. Then again, maybe it's appropriate to regard Corbin's starters as "garbage."
And no, most of Favors' rebounds were not in the THREE or FOUR MINUTES of garbage time that he played, and even when you take out Favors' true garbage time minutes and rebounds, he still pulled down 6 rebounds in about 13 minutes--a higher productivity on both an absolute basis and frequency basis than Slow Al (not to be confused with Slowkur).
If you take out DF's +/- in garbage time, Favors ends up with zero or better, vs. AJ's embarrassing (and team-"leading") minus 21, implying that the Jazz were outscored by around 21 when AJ was on the court and his crucial sidekick Favors was not. (Was Millsap effective alongside Jefferson without Favors? Not by a longshot, as far as this game went. Why not? Because Millsap and Jefferson are not centers and should spend most of their court time alongside Favors or Kanter.)
In other words, my claim on +/- stands in this regard. But thanks for playing, Lance. A big reason why Corbin (like his predecessor) isn't succeeding might be his poor analysis of lineups. Kind of like your post.

Another common theme: Jefferson returned to the game in the middle of the 2nd quarter, both times with Millsap in the game without Favors around, and was part of letting a close game (2 points or less) turn into a double-digit deficit.
Experience is recognizing a mistake when you do it again. (Corbin didn't.)
Millsap is a forward; Jefferson is a forward.
They should be played alongside Favors or Kanter most of the time.
Which means that Millsap should get some SF minutes, or PM & AJ should play no more than about 30 minutes each (unless they prove on any given night that they merit more).
This shouldn't be a problem; there are only 96 minutes at the 4 and 5 spots combined, and it's reasonable to give Favors and Kanter a minimum of 15 minutes each (unless they prove on any given night that they merit more--or less).

What kind of coach whether he believes it or not makes that kind of statement about his team.Talk about giving up and telling his team they suck,part of being a good coach is selling belief,no wonder there is quit in this team ,the coach is already waiving the white flag,sheez what a mistake of a hire.
