Agree 100%.I do think we should move JJ and Favs... not like we have to but I think the rotation going to get messy when they are back.
I think we can kick the tires on who might be willing to come here while negotiating with Exum. If someone is willing to sign we could either get Ex to agree to something underneath his cap hold or waive it. If we could offload AB without attaching an asset I’d do it but if we really got desperate we could waive and stretch his salary to clear more space.
I honestly would like to make DM the primary ball handler and move Rubio... I think he’s just too hard to fit and I’m not sure he’d stay engaged as a backup. Don’t have all the answers but if we find a FA willing to sign we can get to the number we need. I don’t really see a whole lot of good options out there for us.
3 out of 4 makes you a repeat offender, doesn't it? Glad you feel the Jazz are happy to be tax payers. IMO, The ONLY way they do it is if the Jazz are contending, which they aren't. Or, if they have to be in the tax during a transition year, like when they matched for Millsap while still having Boozer. There's no doubt in my mind DL would have immediately tried to offload some salary had Hayward re-signed, likely putting JJ and Burks on the market.Yeah, I don't think we HAVE to move anyone. Thanks to Haywood, we avoided the Luxury Tax this year so we have 3 years starting next we can be over the tax. It will be better to have assets than capspace if you are the Jazz in the coming years, especially as the NBA economy cools considerably. It would cost considerably more money to get Favors like talent on the open market than just keeping Favors, and Burks, and Exum. Favors and Burks are trending upward, value wise. No reason to sell now.
Ok but what If we trade them and get SOMETHING?I think you trade Favors and JJ if you’re actually getting something. If we move then just to get something, then I think it’s a mistake, even if they leave for “nothing.” If it’s between making a bit of noise in the playoffs and getting Rudy (who really missed our playoffs last year) and Donovan that experience, then I believe that’s better than a second round pick. I know, I know — Ginobili, Millsap, and Jokic were all second round picks. But so we’re Kaniel Dickens, Loren Woods, and even Al Franken.
You're leaving out that Favors and Gobert sharing the court makes the Jazz significantly worse.I think you trade Favors and JJ if you’re actually getting something. Agree 100%.
1. Favs and JJ should be moved before the deadline. They aren't part of the plans going forward. Jerebko and Thabo can hold down the fort at the 4 for the rest of the season.
2. No reason to do anything with Exum and/or Hood until they get offers or we need cap space.
3. Burks is a tricky situation. Having him would be important if Hood gets an offer Jazz don't want to match. Burks could slide into the backup role Hood now has. But I don't see him as an optimal piece going forward. So if a deal is there to get rid of his salary, DL should jump on it.

That was the funniest damn thing I’ve read in awhile. Would totally rep if I could.I feel like we are one Denver phone call away from a championship.
obviIs Boler to blame for AB not reaching his potential all these years? I think so.
