What's new

Game 4: Spurs @ Jazz Mon. 6 PM TNT WIN OR GO HOME!

This. Favors grew up a lot during this series. He took some bumps, made some mistakes, got some bad calls, etc., but he played solid D, attacked the rim, and started to see what it's like to be a scorer when points are needed.

This is no time for positivity. Bring back bozzer.

Welp that sucked. So depressing to watch. I have no idea why Howard saw any minutes in this game. And if Favors isn't a starter next year then something is wrong with Ty, though his coaching hasn't given me any confidence that will be fixed.

On another note, I hope this officiating crew isn't reffing any more games. Not that it was one sided really, but they were calling every foul known to man, which is a tragedy in the playoffs.

I doubt there's been a more top-to-bottom embarrassment in the playoffs in the history of this franchise. I could be wrong, please help me be wrong.
Nope - worst postseason showing in franchise history.

You can point to the 4-game sweep by the Lakers in 2010, but what often is overlooked is - not only was that in the 2nd-rnd with the Jazz down 2 starters - the Jazz had a 4-point lead with 3 minutes remaining in Game 1, and a 2-point lead with 30 seconds left in Game 3.

The most competitive Utah was in this series? A 19-2 run that still left us down 4 with less than 50 seconds remaining. Not exactly coming close to even sniffing a W, in any of the 4 games.

Wow Hayward, and Millsap were awful this series. We didn't stand a chance with those two not playing well.

Time to make some changes over the off season. Get rid of one of the big men, let Howard and CJ die, and try and find a shooter.
Hopefully we come into 2012-2013 with a better squad.

I still think getting swept by the Warriors (interestingly enough in Sloan's first year, or at least his first half year) in the first round in 88/89 was a lot worse. Granted it was a 5 game series, but the Jazz dropped 2 at home to the Warriors and were 52-32 that year to Golden State's 43-39.

Too bad the season ended when the Jazz learned of "The Power Within"

You can't win if you have no shooting. It's oversimplifying, but we could have made the series interesting if we had 2 players who could reliably make jumpers. We don't even have one.

Honestly thought the defense wasn't terrible. By my unscientific count, the Spurs scored a lot in the second half of the clock. That's a good sign. Maybe it was the big lineup, maybe we just tried harder, maybe they just missed. But getting better in the second half of the clock is something all teams have to learn.

Long way to go on offense. LOVE the way we ran the O without the flex cuts. Too bad we don't have any idea what to do late in the clock. But I suspect Ty has more of a plan for next year. I'm thinking positive that we'll come out of camp a little different.

Just to repeat: You can't win ANY game with the guard play we got tonight. So blaming anything on Ty is crazy. From 1 to 3, we just put up the worst playoff performance in history.

It's sad how bad Hayward and Jefferson played in this series. Two guys that were a huge part of why we got to the playoffs then just disappeared. I think we could have won 2 games if they were anything like they were the last couple weeks of the season. Favors was the only player to really show up all 4 games and didn't look like a rookie. Everyone else played like rookies in their first 4 NBA games.

congratulations to the jazz on making it to the playoffs in an unstable season like this. many lessons might be and should be learned from this experience for tyrone corbin. over-achieving in a season is not that bad (if you're not a goddamn tanker) and sets your goals for the next season at a higher level. corbin will eventually change the starting 5 next season. let's wait and see what kind of trades will take place. and of course as always, jazz need a pass-first pg ty!

What do we do with Millsap? He was horrible at times, and amazing at others. He was clutch in some big games, but came up dry in the playoffs.

Big Al or Millsap have to go. Tough choice. Both are flawed, both have skill.
