What's new

Game Of Thrones

They really did deviate quite a bit. I'm not ready to write off the changes as terrible yet, since really all they've done is set things up. We'll have to see how they play out. I imagine they had Bran get captured because he really doesn't do jack squat for the longest time in the books. I would have sooner they just cut out his storyline until there's something to show rather than make crap up for him. But we'll see. On first blush it does seem a little too convenient. And there was enough stuff to cover at the Wall without doing this whole raid on the traitors thing.

...and now that I've seen the most recent episode, the changes they made to Bran's and Jon's storylines really don't bother me. Those plot deviations got resolved this episode, and didn't end up having any big ramifications. Basically they just reinforced that Bran is choosing to head further North, and spiced up his storyline a bit. With the way it all turned out, I'm okay with that.

But here's a question for book-readers. What Lysa revealed to Petyr this episode about what she did... did that information get revealed in the books? Because if it did, I either forgot it or missed it somehow.

I didn't watch the episode, what did Lysa say to Littlefinger?

I'll spoiler it for the over-sensitive types:

She said that she was the one who poisoned Jon Arryn and sent the letter blaming the Lannisters to her sister, all at Littlefinger's suggestion.

Now that I looked at the ASOIAF wiki entry for her, it looks like this did indeed get revealed in the books in this same place. I guess it had just been too long and I forgot... I think it's been almost ten years since I read it last.

Good to see mutineers slashed to shreds. Alas Bran and Jon not meant to be. Probably dullest of this season's episodes so far. What the heck happened to the Dragons by the way.

When Lysa said "We should get married" to Petyr. I thought he was going to jump off the moon gate.

I've been told it costs too much money with CGI so they save them. Personally, I feel the show has gotten worse each season on TV. I understand the books may not be like that, but HBO can't have such a complex story with so many characters into 45 minute episodes. Storylines barely move, and it's pretty muddled.

I bet your wife loves the fact that you enjoy a quicker climax

I definitely agree to a certain point. Some storylines are moving way to slow. I guess with the ratings HBO feels GOT will be on the air for a long time to come. Just how far are Arya and the Hound from her aunt's place. Sheesh.

as soon as Brandon decided to let it go and don't come face to face with Jon, I felt like I was watching a Brazilian soap opera. I hope it gets better.

Every episode should just be Tyrion Lanister. His character is so much better than any other character. Dude is a total badass and makes dwarfs seem like badass people.

Wow. I did not wait for Shae to do that.

Her death will probably on the next chapter.

Yes, it is mentioned in the books.

Dem hoes aint loyal

What I am hoping for is that The Seven Kingdoms has a huge climactic battle against the White Walkers. Have them losing.

Then Daenerys comes in with her horde and turns the tide and they win. Then you have The remaining Seven Kingdom forces and Daenerys's forces fighting.

The Stark Children return for blood (Arya, Bran, Sansa, Rickon and Jon Snow) and turn the tide in Daenrys favor. For getting her the Seven Kingdoms their price is the Lannisters heads and semi autonomy for the Northern lands.

No one knows what will happen in the end but I think at least some Lannisters will survive.

Well Put! To Be Frank His Mother Was The One Who Demanded I Take The Books Back And He No Longer Watch The Show But I Shall Talk To Her. We've Both Overheard The Things He And His Friends Talk About And Its Far Worse Then That Show. You Should Be A Lawyer!

I disagree with Gameface and agree completely with your original assessment, countonbuckets. This is the type of show that would have rated a definite R, maybe even NC-17 just a short time ago. AS you said, the intent would have been clear to have the scene cut away. It IS just an excuse to add nudity and violence, which seems to be what titillates the masses these days.

I applaud you for trying to be a good parent and step-parent. Yes, you will get flack for taking a stance. You will get called names. But you will also earn respect. Perhaps it won't even be acknowledged until your children are grown up and ready to become parents. But don't ever feel ashamed to take a stand.
