What's new

Game Of Thrones

I think the negative comes in when something gets changed from the books for the worse. Then I get annoyed. In those cases ignorance would be bliss. But thankfully that hasn't actually happened that often.

And then there is tonight's episode. Ugh.

Good episode I thought, lots of things happened instead of just talk talk talk...

Anyway, so who's the official King now that Joffrey is dead? Is it his younger brother? But isn't he too young to take the throne?

Tommen is the king, but his mother takes charge until Tommen reaches the age where he can actually rule.

It might play out differently in the show, because in the books Tommen is like 7-9, super innocent, and has 3 little cats that he plays with. In the show, he appears to be quite a bit older…so I'm not sure how they're going to handle that.

Also, the whole White Walker thing doesn't bug me because the book never really touched on it, and they have to include it to keep the audience's attention.

This whole spicing up Bran's storyline by having him potentially meet Jon, and having The Goat at the wall…that annoys me. Those are some big deviations from the book. I'm not a fan of that crap.

There's not enough story lines in the books to fill an episode so they have to make **** up.

That last 20 minutes was horrendous.

Are you saying they're already running out of story lines? That's a bit of a concern isn't it? Irregardless, I'm pretty sure the show writers consulted with GRRM to make sure that it all makes sense and legit even though it is a deviation. There's nothing wrong with the stories getting "expanded" in the show if GRRM had OK'd it IMO.

Seems like quite a few things got expanded, but are there any parts of the book that the show left out all together? That would be much more of a concern to me.

Jus tnow started this series. I have gotten thru the first 4 episodes. Going to start reading the books.

They really did deviate quite a bit. I'm not ready to write off the changes as terrible yet, since really all they've done is set things up. We'll have to see how they play out. I imagine they had Bran get captured because he really doesn't do jack squat for the longest time in the books. I would have sooner they just cut out his storyline until there's something to show rather than make crap up for him. But we'll see. On first blush it does seem a little too convenient. And there was enough stuff to cover at the Wall without doing this whole raid on the traitors thing.

This
I hope they dont cut out a huge scene that is suppossed to happen at the wall

Major story lines? Not really.

They've left out some minor stories and characters, but these are fairly long books with lots of characters and details. It would be very difficult for a show to accurately depict all of them.

There are just some things that I don't think they need to change, just my opinion. Their main audience is non-readers, so they're going to try to appease them…and Martin doesn't really care, because he knows that the readers are going to continue reading no matter what, at this point, it's all about attracting and keeping television viewers. Those damn fools who are too lazy to read a great series.

Someone should start a new thread for GOT that if purely for the show and not the books and does not contain any spoilers.

Someone should get over it.

If you dont want to know what happens then watch the episode when it airs or dont come in this thread until you have watched the episode

If it contains no spoilers, and any information about any episode is a spoiler, what sort of discussion would happen in this hypothetical thread?

If that's what he's saying, he's dumb.

So I'm sure that's not what he's saying.

Settle down. Let me rephrase what I was trying to say. Once the episode airs of course the new thread would have discussions on it. I simply meant a thread where nothing would be given away until the new episode airs.

My bad.
Thats fair

Trust me it would take a lot for me to miss the original airing. I even managed to get HBO free for 3 months right during its airing. Yeah!

Lol.
Every year i get hbo for free for three months right at the start of GOT and then cancel it.

Done it each season so far :-)
