What's new

GAME THREAD: 3/26/14 - Grizzlies @ Jazz, 8:30 local, ESPN

Chocolate chip, no nuts. A couple of times a year I do oatmeal scotchies.

Agreed that Corbin did nothing to make the end of the game better.

Only cookies worth baking, good man. Any other cookies in my house get store bought. I'm a cooker not a baker.

Next year the Grizzlies will play 3 quarters instead of 1 1/2.

I'm being critical because I didn't see this game as a big moral victory. There were a couple of good things, but it did not behoove a generally positive direction to me.

Good for them, but that is the goal for Utah. To be able to compete when teams turn up the heat. So isn't challenging the good playoff teams all game a solid step in the right direction? I don't understand why you are complaining about what we want to see.

Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph are not used to physical play? Really? Even I know better than that.

Yes, Favors and Kanter got their way most of the night. To me, it looked like a lack of effort on the part of Gasol and Randolph on the defensive end, rather than being physically over-matched.

Read the whole sentence my man...they're used to physical play, they aren't used to the refs letting it go like they did last night. If you would have watched the entire game, you would have noticed Gasol and Randolph (particularily Gasol) bitching at the refs the entire time because of it.

Because agreeing with certain people on certain things isn't allowed. He's more of a contrarian than Cyrone Torbin.

Let's try this again...apparently I didn't have permission to post this morning.

Looooong time lurker. First post. First year season ticket holder to support the rebuild...I mean tank. Got upgraded to the first row last night and was on ESPN every time the ball went to the corner opposite the Jazz bench (apparently)! Met Randy Rigby too, but didn't have the balls to tell him that I would renew my tickets on the spot if he promised Ty would be let go.

Kanter was a beast in the first half, being five feet from that dunk was awesome!

I don't know if this is typical (being able to see things as the refs do for this one), but the refs REALLY let the guys play last night. You could have called a foul on pretty much every possession. The game is insanely physical up close.

Glad the Grizzlies turned it on and that the refs bailed us out on the Randolph call. I couldn't bear another last second three.

Let's lose out, let Ty walk, get lucky, get Wiggins and then GO JAZZ!

If you're saying that next time, they might be a little better prepared when a good team turns up the heat, I agree. They might be. However, regardless of what they may have said after the game, I didn't see the Grizzlies being challenged by the Jazz as much as by their own ennui. It's just my personal take.

Any physical NBA veteran has experienced many nights where the refs let things go, and many nights where they don't. Most of the time they complain when they don't like how things are going. That doesn't mean Gasol and Randolph were playing close to their best games and Favors and Kanter were just better.

If you thought you saw a Grizzlies team that was putting out a significant effort in the first half, I won't try to convince you otherwise. However, that's not what I saw.

Welcome! You'll fit right in...

It's not because I have a genuine opinion of my own after watching one of the few games televised nationally, it's that on some deep level I needed to disagree with The Thriller? Yeah, tell yourself whatever you want.

I like this guy!

I just figure that half of the posters are alts and a third of the other half are bots, in my mind there is just no other way to explain the insanity.

Jazzfanz is rather clickish, the childish rep thing has almost ruined it.

Fishing for reps tbh

You already said you weren't paying attention to the game because were baking cookies…why should I trust your take?

As for your other post, nobody agrees with Thriller…he's a moron. I was of course stating that you like to disagree with the majority…you like to argue, not a big deal, but don't deny it.

Dupe account I'll bet. Jazzfanz is like the team; we rarely develop fresh new talent. The old vets are just recycled over and over. Not that I'm complaining...who else would have me?

I definitely don't have talent or a good eye for it. Just a fan in his 30s who grew up with Hot Rod on the radio while shooting on my Nerf hoop. Never played organized ball, but my Teacher's Quorum team used to beat teams 150 to 30 or so. I'm a computer programmer who can handle most of the other devs at work, but the sales guys would kill me. To lose all credibility and not prove that I'm an alt here are some opinions on drafts and things:

I remember wanting Steve Nash, if for no other reason that he was a point guard within our range when Stockton was getting older.

I was really mad at Denver for picking Ty Lawson right before us.

Raul Lopez wasn't a horrible pick, just bad luck.

I'm not mad at Deron, I don't boo him. Glad we got something for him though after he hurt his wrist.

Sloan held on for too long, the game passed him by. He looks really old at games.

Biggest mistake recently (obvious) is giving Corbin a 3 year deal without seeing what he could do.

The more the season goes on there are fewer and fewer guys I want for the long haul. Favors can't have these 4-6 rebound games. Hayward if less than 8M/year. Kanter is undersized and needs to become the bull he was his rookie year (gain some weight back). Burks is fun to watch and is my favorite on the team. No more washed up vets please. I really wanted Hayward traded to Boston or Phoenix at the deadline for a pick or two.

I wanted to take a flier on Biyombo, because his defense could have become elite and I didn't like that draft class very much. Didn't think we should get Kanter because he could only jump 6 inches and was getting blocked by high school kids.

I wanted Schroeder last year (didn't think we'd move up) for his defense. Would have preferred MCW over Burke just because of length, though Trey is (too) clutch.

I think defense wins championships. I want Wiggins over Parker for that reason. Don't want Embiid any longer due to his back. Current draft order: T1: Wiggins / T2: Parker / T3: Gordon, getting talked into Smart (as a PG), maybe could get talked into Randle if he is taller than Millsap / T4: who knows.

Current favorite player to watch in the NBA: Kevin Love, love those huge outlet passes. Weird since I want more defense, maybe rebounds count as defense.

Picked my username because that is the year I would peg for our first legit shot at WCF/Finals.

And I won't post enough to be an alt.
