What's new

Game Thread: Clippers @ Jazz, 7 p.m.

One criticism: We had Griffin at 3 fouls early in the 3rd. We should have run Millsap at him relentlessly to get the 4th (or just benefit from Griffin trying not to pick up his 4th). We went like 6 minutes without attacking Griffin from that point. Tried to feed Al as I recall. I thought Ty was asleep at the wheel on this.

I still have to watch the tivoed game. ButI'm excited at the win. I'm also happy tos ee Burks, Kanter, and Evans play.

Looking at the box, WTF happened to Hayward?

Locke tonight noted that the jazz have been quite good in first quarters this season, a far cry from last years team that seemed to really suck in the 1st qtr.
.

I've been saying this all along, when so many fans were complaining about the starting lineup. Seems to me that Locke was one of the people who jumped on the "bring Al off the bench" train.

And yes, locke is annoying for the most part.
For the season, Utah has outscored their opponents in 5/13 1st-quarters and overall is +7 in opening quarters - although they are trending upward by winning 4 of their last 6 1st-quarters and +27 in that stretch.

Burks is so unusual to watch. He does things only star players can do, but you can't help but worry that he's not going to get it. He runs breaks badly, he plays aggressively to a fault, he takes dumb shots. On the flips side, he makes plays, gets to the line, and he's productive. I'm really not sure how you reign in a guy like Burks.
I remember a young Kobe being he same way. Not saying that's who Burks will become. But as a 6th man, he'll need to be aggressive and get to the line. I think regular PT will fix some of his errors. Right now, he's trying to score every time he gets the ball because that's the only way he believes he'll get noticed by Ty and rewarded with more PT. Perhaps next season, if/when CJ is gone, Burks will know he'll get 20 mins/per and he can settle down a bit.

Holy hell what a stomping. Very refreshing to see. Every guy suited up got a bucket. CJ played great, Sap is a stud, and Harris played very well as well.

"Rookies Alec Burks added 11 points and six rebounds, and Enes Kanter had 10 points and five rebounds for Utah. However, it was second-year pro Jeremy Evans who brought the crowd to its feet, with four dunks—three on alley-oops."

Over the last decade, I have never seen our defence this good. We seem to be able to do the things that the good teams always did agst us. I am not a Jerry, dwill, a k47, etc hater, but this group is defending the pick and roll etc very well.

It's cute to see so many of you worried about Hayward. He's just in a little soph funk. If Bell and Harris can turn it around, Hay will be fine.
