What's new

Game Thread: Denver Nuggets @ Utah, Monday, November 11, 7:00 pm MST

Sorry dude, but Kanter has been **** on defense, **** on defensive rebounding, and hasn't really improved offensively since last season. I'm just hoping its rust from not playing over the past 6 months.

Me too man, and im trying to consider that rust for not playing for months and he is for sure out of shape cause he cant even post up Hickson properly(same with boxing out). Kanter is a young player that has flaws on his deffensive game. We already know that, nothing new. But his mid range jumper is the proof that he improved offensively since last season.

Randy Foye shot 3/10 and only 1/5 from 3-pts.

Yet, his +/- was +22 in 31 minutes.

Not that I read too much into that stat, but it shows the value of having a shooter on the floor, just to create space for everyone else.

I think i get this whole tank thing now. We are not tanking, we are tanking for posterity. We need 8 wins or less to become the worst team in NBA history and i think we can do it.

Are you a fan of Spartacus the TV show?

Any one of our guys could say "**** this, I'm taking over!" then explode for 35 points.

Problem is, we don't have a guy who can score 30 or 35 points.

WEll, then we obviously need to trade Hayward, Kanter or Favors for him according to some posters on this board who give credence to +/- stats.

So Kanter does not pass the eye test to a lot of us, and he has not been rebounding like he used to. He looks terrible on defense, and just looks lost sometimes. I think and hope he will figure some of this out, but I am beginning to think the "Kanter is a passable defender" line that we hear on here a lot is not actually true. He might just be a bad defender like Boozer and Jefferson. Are we ok with that? And when will he wake up and at least get some rebounds and not look lost?

No, but we need a shooter to space the floor. I think that was the idea behind playing Marvin Williams at the PF. Problem is that he can't really defend PFs.

This team has just been gutted by the front office.

No floor spacers. No PG depth. No bench.

The young guys are completely on their own.

Denver's bench scored 42 pts.

Utah's bench scored 16 pts.

That's a 26 pt. difference.

Utah's starters outscored Denver's starters by 7 pts.

Even if Burks shot better and went like 6/9 with an extra 3-ball. That only adds 9 pts, and our bench still gets outscored by 17 pts.

The weird thing about Marv not being able to defend PF's is that he is a big dude, and pretty light on his feet. One would think that would translate. That is the mystery that is Marv though.

This is my main takeaway. There is nobody who can consistently help. If all 4 are on at once, we have a good chance to win but if even one of them falters a bit there is nobody to pick up the slack.

We don't have a single really complementary player and none of our best 4 are good enough to even semi-regularly take over a game. Still, I think we could actually be a decent team next year if we add Wiggins or Parker and a couple of role players.

The last 5 minutes or so of the 3rd quarter Favors had a look in his eyes. He was calling for the ball, playing like a beast on both ends, great body language - you can see the confidence being injected back into him. And for his efforts, he's benched the first 4 minutes of the 4th quarter. For ****'s sake Corbin forget about your rotations for a second and ride the hot hand you robot - what do you have to lose?
