What's new

Game thread: Game #19 : Trail Blazers at Utah, Monday 01/30/2012 7:00 PM MST

We got dam lucky to pull this one out. Blazers had it under control and then for some reason started firing outside jumpers, I do not think they made a single basket inside until last minute or so in second half. Thanks we will take it:)

I think Kanter had a part in that.

....And Miles with the clutch miss, helping us retain possession
Actually, I think that was on purpose, believing that even if Portland got the rebound, they'd have to go the length of the court to score. CJ has major skills and bb IQ!

Oh yeah, I almost forget...SARCASM ALERT! SARCASM ALERT!

Kanter has a great motor, rebounds like he doesn't care that he's only 19, and stays active on every play. But for some reason, he's just a magnet for getting his shot blocked.

Kanter was ****ing amazing tonight. I don't care that he got packed two or three times. He defended Aldridge better than anyone else that Ive ever seen defend Aldridge in the NBA, especially at Kanters age. Man, what a game

Did you miss Kanter's D on LMA?

They reversed to jumpers in 3 quarter when Kanter was not playing. And it is not only LMA. Nobody from Blazers team was going inside, they all where firing 20-23FT jumpers, LMA included. Kanter played good post defense in 4th but not sure that was the reason Blazers lost. I think Macmillan lost control on his team in second half, I did not see timeouts or change of game plan or any new plays. They got sloppy and could not match Jazz energy thanks to Watson - he is MVP of this game.

I give a lot of credit to the team they played a great 4th quarter, the defense steped up and took the Blazers by surprise. Luck had nothing to do with it. Kanter was a man in the 4th and destroyed LaMarcus Aldridge in that 4th. The jazz took that game!

Kanter played good D on LMA, but he had already broken his rhythm. At one point LMA put up a really quick shot and missed it short. Then Crawford came in and they stopped spamming LMA 18 footers. He got out of rhythm. He came back in and was still cold. Then Kanter started guarding him and did a good job of roughing him up (the book on how to guard LMA, he is soft).

Not going inside other than LMA? Uhh, do you realize that LMA is their only option in the paint? They can't ****ing feed Camby, Wallace was camping on the perimeter, and everyone else was being D'd up. LMA is their main offensive option, and Kanter shut him down. Holy **** AKMVP, you are unbelievable

Kanter shot some jumpers tonight that obviously didn't go in, but getting the confidence to even shoot those things is important for him. He has a good touch; that is obvious, so set jumpers will start to fall. Another thing with his finishing around the rim...I think he has very little experience trying to dunk on people or through people. He does not attack the rim at all unless it's off a rebound put back. I've seen a lot of footage of him in practice and stuff, and he has the ability to finish with a step or two, but even when he has this in games, he doesn't have the confidence. I hope this comes with time, but he played nice D tonight and gobbled the ball on the boards.

He is going to have to learn to throw his body into people and draw fouls and how to use the rim to guard from blocks. Also, learn how to use the backboard.

I was pulling my hair out with hayward the first half, but have to give the kid some major props! He had a fantastic second half (besides the missed FT). His block on crawford I think won the game for us.

I thought Batum blew his ACL but looks like it is probably just a hyper extension. How cursed can that franchise get, and they deserve every bit of it.
