What's new

Game Thread: Utah @ BYU, Sat. 9/21 8:15pm MT, ESPN2

On on a more serious note, those of you that are coming to Provo probably should tack at least 15 minutes onto what you might normally if you're planning driving down close to gametime. In city traffic has been the worst I've ever seen it this week. They've closed off main roads. Other main roads are at 1 lane right now. It's a total mess. Driving in Salt Lake today actually felt like a nice break, and considering there are no 1-15 exits that are particularly close to the stadium.....it could be scary Saturday.

OH MY GOSH...

This is so true. Soooooooo true.

Thanks Duck for pointing this out.

AVOID AVOID AVOID Provo Center and Orem's Univ Parkway. OMG, these streets make the 405 in LA look like a cakewalk. It literally took me 45 mins to go from the top of the hill on University Parkway to get onto I-15. A distance of maybe 1 mile.

If I were you folks, I'd hit up Orem's 800 N exit and go directly east on it until you hit the Provo/Heber interchange at the mouth of Provo canyon. Then, stay right and go south towards the stadium. Last resort would be to hit up Orem's Center Street exit. But that's really pushing it. University Parkway? Ha, forget about it.

IMO, the best way to get to the stadium is to go as far east as you can and then go south past the front of Timpview High School. You can do this via Orem's 800 N exit or Center Street. Right before the stadium is a elementary school where you can park for free. Then, you walk 5-7 mins to the stadium. Anyone else agree with this? Or know a better route?

If you need any help or directions just send me a message.

I want all of you lil brother fans to witness this beatdown. :D

If any of you find yourselves south of Orem Center Street Exit... You're screwed... Plan on missing at least half the game (unless) you are 2-3 hours prior to the kickoff. Utah County is a mess right now with all the construction.

Is Texas a top 15 program in the history of college football. Of course. Are they a top 15 program this year? Not even close. Nice selective reasoning. Go back and look at all of the "Big" wins against "Big" programs BYU has had over the years. They beat them in down years and get trounced any time the program is good. The year they beat the Miami Hurricanes, the Canes ended up sucking. When they beat Pitt and SMU (powerhouses at the time), those schools had horrible years. A few years ago BYU went to Texas and notched an impressive season opening win against Oklahoma. By the end of the year, that win looked a lot less impressive when everybody was looking at a 7-and-5 Sooner team.

When was the last time BYU rose up and beat a really good school that was in the midst of a good/great season? BYU simply doesn't beat the "Big Boys" when they're good. History proves that. Even midlevel teams give BYU trouble when they have special years. Couldn't beat TCU when they were good. Boise State kicks your *** when their at the top of their game. They got ran off the field by Utah during their BCS runs. The list goes on and on. But hey, they almost beat Notre Dame last year, so I guess you can hang your hats on that.

Thriller, keep pounding your chest over that Texas win. By the end of the year, they'll have 5 or 6 losses, Mack Brown will "retire", and this season will be regarded as a down year for the Longhorns. History has shown us that those facts won't stop BYU fans from adding a "big win over Texas in 2013" to their long and storied resume of "big win".

LOL

Duh, of course you want to believe the teams BYU beats were not good, because you hate BYU.

The fact of the matter is that after BYU beats a good team, they beat them so good coaches get fired and that team gives up on their season. That year BYU beat Oklahoma, Oklahoma was a great team. We knocked Bradford out, and because of that they were not as good as they could have been. BYU is why they had a down year.

Your garbage about not beating TCU when they are good is just that. I seem to remember the Utes getting stomped by TCU 55-28 in one year the Utes were a good team. Try again.

Any team BYU beats you will marginalize, I get that, it's natural.

I'd personally go off at the Lindon exit, jump on Geneva Rd from there, go South until you hit 2000/2000:

And just cut through those neighboorhoods. Would take you right through. But that one might not be so good for people unfamiliar the area.

Driving in my neck of the woods is a dream compared to Utah county. Every time I go down there I am blown away by the traffic. UDOT tears up the same roads repeatedly and the city and county roads are wholly inadequate. Sorry to break it to you but all those babies y'all been having have turned your "small towns" into a suburban nightmare. Seriously the only street that is walkable is center street in provo. The rest are asphalt deserts lined with walmarts and gas stations.

ps I'm not talking about your cul de sac.

UPDATE

I was just walking around campus, and I saw a (rather attractive) girl wearing a bright red Utah Utes hoodie.

We sorta walked past each other. In a state of awe, I was like "wow that's a NICE sweater".

Her response: "thanks!! Haha your Jazz hat is pretty cool too"

I was walking super quick to meet up with my prof, so that was all there was to this conversation.

WISH I asked her to take a photo with me or sumthin. NEVER seen anything Utah related in Alberta. Particularly in terms of a college team.

Missed opportunity. You chose to talk to your professor over talking to an attractive girl with a Ute hoodie, when you had already broken the ice?

Moran!!!!!!

Your professor would understand.

It was fairly uncharacteristic of me. I regretted not talking to her more the second I walked away.

There's 40, 000 undergrads on my campus, so ill probably never see her again.

Exactly, and what are the odds she will walk around in Ute gear at the same time you are walking around in a Jazz hat again?

I just can't get the image out of my head of Lloyd and Harry stopping the bus to let them know the town is the other way, with you being Lloyd.

:(

Pac12 officials are reffing the game and a lot of BYU fans are already up in arms about it. Nothing like blaming the officials for a loss that won't happen until Saturday.

In the whole world's defense, the Pac 12 officials have a long string off the worst officiated games in the history of the universe.

I expect another candidate for "Worst call ever made in the history of Football by an officiating crew" again.

The bad refs won't make BYU lose, but it will cut into the margin of victory for BYU. Annoying.

Cougs just have to play a bit smarter, that's all. Make sure they've got at least 40 seconds left in the game if they decide to center the ball for a field goal attempt.

And if they see Utah line up for an onside kick, be afraid, be very afraid.
