Hayward truly had a great performance. He gives me a night like this every 4-5 nights and his contract will look formidable in my eyes, given he doesn't lay an egg at the same ratio. Keep it up Gordo.

The things you quoted are not facts. They are stereotypes. The reason stereotypes exist is because a lot of people fit that mold, but not all of them do. So saying black people like fried chicken is racist because not all black people do and you are trying to lump them in. As far as the original comment its fine to observe that a lot of Laker fans are Hispanic but really there is not reason to comment on the race of people since it adds nothing to the conversation. Its like when people say I was talking to a Hispanic guy the other day and he said blah, blah blah... Not really being racist but there is no reason to point out his race in that story. Thats my two cents that was not asked for and has nothing to do with the thread!

I'm not sure how I feel about this statement.

I have no clue what the intentions were of the guy who first made the observation, but I actually am kind of curious why such a large proportion of Hispanics in Utah relative to other races are Lakers fans. And my curiosity has nothing to do with racism.

That's why they call it an average. If Hayward is going to be a 20/5/5 player, then a 30 pt performance has to be accompanied by one at 10 points or a couple at 15.

So it's racist to say black people are athletic..... but not racist to say most black people are athletic.
Ok. I think that is stupid.


Oh and no one should say the sky is blue because sometimes it isnt blue. Dont say babies are cute cause some babies are not cute. Blah blah blah


Also why would people get upset over recieving a compliment like black people are athletic?
If someone was to say white people are good looking I certainly would not get upset and cry racism.... I would just say thanks

You have to understand what racism really is. Racism is seeing people differently due to race. Whether you deem it as a compliment doesn't make something more or less racist. I agree most people are way too uptight and as someone who considers himself a black man I can joke and have fun with racial sterotypes. However I'm not ignorant enough to believe that those things are true across the board for any group of people regardless of race.

Good post but only an idiot would think that a statement like "black people are athletic" means literally ALL black people. No one thinks all black people are athletic and everyone should understand that. Obviously there are elderly black people, crippled black people, infant black people and some black people that were not blessed with athleticism.

That's why I think it's dumb that a statement like "a higher percentage of black people are athletic than other races" is not racist, but a statement like "black people are athletic" is racist. Everyone should know that those two sentences mean the exact same thing (since its obvious that not every black person is athletic)

Yeah I'm not afraid of the topic. Honestly we as humans should have discuss like this far more often. Also I hope the line "However I'm not ignorant enough to believe that those things are true across the board for any group of people regardless of race." didn't come off as if I was calling you ignorant. I fully understand what you are saying and mostly agree. Your keeping it simple with the understanding that your point is "understood".

It is a slippery slope though.

Most black people are NOT athletic. It is true that certain groups will have small physical differences that give them notable advantages over others at high levels of competition. For example, people of West African descent will typically have minute differences in fast twitch muscle fibers and a couple of others things that make me the best sprinters. Yet, the difference between a world class sprinter from European descent and one from West African descent is like 0.1 seconds or some ****.

I play with over 20 black dudes at the gym every Saturday. Not a single one of them is specially athletic.

Stereotypes act as a barrier to true understanding, and I do think we should let go of them.

Black people have less money than white people.
