What's new

GameTHREAD: Wed - Nov. 20th – 6pm ROOT --- JAZZ@ Pelicans

Gordon Hayward

1-17 from the field. 0-8 from three-point land.

Said it all season long. When you're best player is Gordon Hayward, YOU SUCK.

Well in his defense, he's had some quite nice games too. But I'm freaking tired of people only looking at shooting stats! like there are other parts of the game too. If Lebron had a 50 point game, but shot 15 of 50, nobody would care and they would all bow down to him.

Well, besides that that's not really true, Lebron practically never shoots poorly (especially when you consider how he gets to the line, or when you consider that he's one of the most efficient and productive players of all time). But you're the one comparing Lebron to Hayward, so, maybe you're onto something.

I'm mostly saying that some people are narrow minded, Yes Hayward shot absolutely terrible, but at least he helped in other ways and defended.

I'm trying to figure out what caused this though, something mental of course, so maybe trouble in the lockeroom with the guys, or probably Corbin.

You talk about Hayward as though he's not gone through significant stretches of every season playing poorly. I've not been high on Hayward for that reason and when considering that he's the only one of the four that has played a role of any real significance in the previous three years.

It just shows that he can be a great 3rdish option. He's a great player to have on a team.

Locke tweeted this pic showing all time jazz sucky shooting. Malone and Russell 1-16, Big T 2-20, ak 2-19. Hayward tops them all.

Unlike Rudy, Locke didn't take his tweet down.

Gobert is a competitor, I like watching him play, hopefully we see more of him as the season goes on.

Evans should be nowhere near the court during game time. I'll give Ty a pass because Evans was coming off injury, but
he better not be apart of the rotation in the future. Only use Evans if the players in front of him are lifeless, and we are getting blown out.

Yea it's Corbin fault that Hayward shot 1-17. You know why because he should have told Hayward to stop shooting I guess. It is never the coaches fault if a player has a bad shooting night. So when Hayward had 27 pts the other night, how come I didn't see anyone praise Corbin for helping Hayward.

If you are going to blame the coach for his poor shooting then you have to give credit to the coach when players shoot lights out. You can't have it both ways. In reality, the players are responsible for making and missing shots.

I agree. Most of his shots were fairly open and make able - that's on Hayward. One strange move I would put on ty though is calling Haywards name for the final shot of The half after going like 1-11 or whatever. Corbin's final shot play is always that long two from the left side off of a kanter screen. Doesn't he have a play for a better shot, or for someone else if Hayward is struggling?

I didn't see the play but most plays have multiple options. So there was no wonder Hayward was left open because he was something like 1-10 at that point. Like they say, there is a reason why a player keeps getting open shots.

Ok I am going to do a good news, bad news thing to increase level of positive, or to not just pile it on

Good news: Kanter finally had a bounce back, hope restoring game
Bad news: I have less than an cm left of hope in Burks

Good news: This game was competitive for 90% of it. Enjoyable to watch
Bad news: Playing NOH

Good news: Burke looked great!!!
Bad news: Corbin yanked him out

Good News: I was wrong, Tim Hardaway once went 0-16 which is technically worse than hayward's 1-17. Hayward is spared history books
Bad News: Paul George is better than Melo now lol

oooolllllooolll melo>paul george

put paul gorg to knicks and they are 0-11.

While you and I are on the same side on this topic you really do yourself no favors.

Green ranting about Corbin only shows how ridiculous people have gotten complaining about Corbin. The coach does not get to decide if a player is medically cleared to play. Unless Burke comes out and says the doctor said I could play as much as the coach wants. Then you can complain about it for now, the ranting is just ridiculous.

I am more upset that Gobert has lost minutes to Harris. Now that Evans is back Gobert and Evans should be the first off the bench.

Burks and Jeffersons stats are virtually the same this year. There is no advantage to playing rjeff

Burks along with Hayward lost the game for the Jazz. Burks needs to pull his head out and stop making stupid passes that lead to turnovers. Besides the fact his jump shot sucks. I am pretty much done with Alec if he can't start making jump shots and turning the ball over. Jefferson shouldn't get so many minutes but when he plays well he is better than burks.

Here's the bottom line... Our best offensive player, Hayward, is ideally a 3rd or 4th option player. He's not as horrible as many of you are making him out to be. But he's a role player, nothing more nothing less.

It's like making Bruss, Shandon Anderson, or Matt Harpring our #1 option. No wonder why our offense sucks.

I haven't seen anything saying the Dr's limited him. If so, then I'm wrong. If not...

Burke's injury shouldn't limit his playing time. His conditioning should. Your worry right now isn't re breaking his finger. It's pulling a hammy.

This year he has consistently been our best and most productive player. Easily. He shot terrible last night but still had 6 rb and 11 assists. Without him where would we be?
