George Hill coming to Utah

So we prolly could have got hill next summer and kept #12?

was this mainly about appeasing lord Hayward in hopes of re-signing him?

I don't think so. We would have had a chance to get him, but there would have been other offers.

And appeasing Hayward by building a good playoffs team is not a bad thing.

True on both points

Interested to hear how the 76ers ran the price up this far for Hill.. This move is absurd..

Lindsey got bamboozled, Trey Burke style.

Though with your first point, won't there still be other offers next year when he is a free agent too?

Yup.

Also, lolz at all the people saying "TEAGUE! WHY NOT TEAGUE!?" Did it cross any of our minds that people wouldn't have wanted to trade Teague to Utah for #12?

the summer of 2017 has the greatest free agent PG crop of all time.. Yet the Jazz are paying a premium (lottery pick) for a rental one year early --- That's totally what just happened here..

and apparent;y the lowly 76ers are the one that ran the price up/created some need to pull the trigger on this deal before the draft.. LOL

Should've just paid Rondo for 1 season.

No. "Looking" at a team doesn't equal "probably could have gotten him next summer."

Reports indicate Durant is looking at Golden State, the Lakers, and Clippers. Doesn't mean any of the teams will get him; two of them certainly won't.

The Jazz liked Hill enough that they wanted to ensure they had the best chance at keeping him longer term, something that his agent is indicating he's amenable towards.

Pretty much. People are acting like giving your best players another reason to stay and improving your roster is a bad thing. The cost is not low, but if you want a starting level PG that's the cost.

Anyone who suggests Rondo auto loses all credibility IMO. The Dallas experience is sufficient to show why that wouldn't work here. No, no, and no way, no.

Thats 2 starter-quality NBA champions I have in the Jazz starting lineup.. Of course you wouldn't respond to that seriously. you probably take pride in being a fan of a loser franchise.

Yes because being on a championship team means you are good? Should we make a team of Sash Kaun, Ian Clark, Brandon Rush and Dahntay Jones? Maybe back them up with Baynes, Beasly and Greg Oden since they were all in the finals and winners?

Barnes was at best (arguably further down) the 5th best player on the Ws and you want to pay him max and that will help us compete with teams like the Ws?????

In a weak draft. At a time win the Jazz need to win next season.

Doomsay all you want. Most don't appear to be buying it.

Won't he be a free agent next year? Won't we still have to bid for him? Couldn't is getting him now actually hurt our chances of re-signing him too? What if exum, hood, hayward, burks take up most all of the minutes and hill thinks he should have played more?

Calling this a weak draft is just echoing the thoughts of others, it's far to presumptuous for me to buy at this point in time...

This move makes less sense than drafting Wade Baldwin 12th..

Infact the only legit reason on this move is to appease Hayward..

I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything either. Just sharing my thoughts.

Oh and to your second point is there a chance in hell that the jazz could have a good playoff team this coming season and keep the #12 pick without getting hill? Could the jazz get a free agent this summer?

Though with your first point, won't there still be other offers next year when he is a free agent too?

Well ya. Like others said, it's not a no-brainer. We gave up a good asset for a possible one year rental. That would not be ideal. But, since he's an aging player, I think we have more of a chance at signing him long-term to a reasonable contract if we end up with a legit playoffs team.

I guess we'll see how things go down. But I am excited about this trade.

Surely the 12th pick is not THAT high a price. I think if we manage to retain him, it's a damn good deal.

And I like Rondo, but he's a headcase. And Hill is better anyway.
