Locke had two different tweets on draft night. One that the Jazz target at 24 was Tony Bradley if they had stayed there. And the other that the Jazz had identified 3 players that they would trade up for if the opportunity was there. With Donovan Mitchell being on top of the list of 3. Just judging by the reported "Coaches crucible" and the Jazz drafting players this year that wowed them in workouts, I'm guessing TJ Leaf may very well have been one of the 3 because he spoke highly of the Jazz and his interest in playing here. The other idk. DJ Wilson?

Zach Collins would be my guess. They probably could have traded 24, 30, and Lyles for him I think but they'd rather have two of their guys instead of one especially depending on if Mitchell was higher than him on their big board.

No. Passing on Booker for Lyles was a bad move.

However, as good as Booker is offensively, his defense negates some of that. Now we have a 2-way player in Mitchell, which is pretty sweet. Don't want to make premature statements about a guy who has yet to play in an NBA game, but I think sooner than later, we will be glad to have Mitchell instead of Booker.

I completely agree.

But people will see Booker score 20-25 while giving up the same, and if Mitchell scores 15 but gives up 10, they'll still think Booker is better.

Lindsey on 1280 this afternoon was pretty good. I would be a mess after the weeks of draft and free-agent prep and a long night of the actual draft.

He seemed pretty relaxed, actually relieved. Understandable since the draft broke his way again. I guess he can celebrate for a few hours before the big FA drama. Maybe he already knows what GH and GH will do, or maybe he already has a plan B.

He talked about teamwork and how it is unfair to ask the basketball players to sacrifice, communicate and work together for the good of the team if the FRont office and coaching staff aren't able to set an example. "It takes a good team to make a good team".

And this is why I respect Lindsay the way I do. A good leader will usually have plans for what obstacles he can foresee and adapt to what they cannot. They will also do what they ask their troops to do. It also helps that they are usually correct in their judgments and savvy enough to capitalize on what advantages they have while masking their weaknesses.

Well, no ****. Of course it was a mistake taking Lyles over Booker.

With that being said, I think DL more than made up for it by turning Trey Lyles and Tyler Lydon into Donovan Mitchell. I have two hot takes for everyone:

- Donovan Mitchell will end up being DL's Kawhi Leonard

- Donovan Mitchell > Devin Booker

Booker plays no defense and Mitchell has the potential to be an elite defender. Until Phoenix starts winning some games and making the playoffs he will continue to put up empty stats. If the rumors were true about NY asking for Booker in a trade for Porzingis and they turned it down they are extremely dumb.

Didn't Booker fist pump when we didn't draft him? We may have wanted him, he may have not wanted us.

Please don't compare Mitchell to Leonard.

Leonard is an outlier, an anomaly. Just let Mitchell be Mitchell. I'd be ecstatic if he was Avery Bradley.

Jazz would be pretty damn good if they had Avery Bradley with this current lineup

I took it as they were targeting a player that went before mitchell, which was kennard and monk

Turning Trey Lyles into Donovan Mitchell was a boss move.

Indicated they were also targeting another player in the Lottery, sounded like to me? from that little interview?

My guess is Monk.

Time will tell on Bradley.

I am not high on DL.

Burke
Lyles (Gave up on this guy wayyyy too early).

Gone.

Have to be considered failed picks. When you draft well out of the lottery (Gobert and Hood) there is a lot of luck.

Also, if Hill doesn't resign - that is a fail as well!

If Exum busts out - Lindsay busts out.

I don't view the trade for Hill as a fail.

I mean, if Hill doesn't come, Utah doesn't do well as a team, and there's no chance that Hayward stays. The draft last year was low on talent, so I'm not too bothered by the trade even if Hill leaves. Have to make moves to try to keep your star players.
