Gobert update thread

I predict a game 3 return.

Let's all look at our hands, for safety!

Dance = play in the basketball game

Sometimes I feel like people don't get the most basic part of the musical metaphor.

God, videos from vintage 80's MTV were really, really cheesy.

And to think, I used to watch it for hours on end back in the day. It's kind of embarrassing when I think back on it.

This might have already been posted, but I saw this quote the other day:

Derrick Favors on Rudy Gobert: "His spirits are high. Hopefully we'll get him back in a week or two."

I think Favors might have a good idea on when it is possible for him to come back based on him being a big and having a similar injury.

Pipe dreams is what we've got here....anybody that thinks Rudy comes back for any game in this series is Pipe dreaming! But it seems to me that we can win this series without him! Of course, if we get blown out in game 2 by 30 points, all bets are off!

Pipe dream

noun

1. an unattainable or fanciful hope or scheme. synonyms: fantasy, false hope, illusion, delusion, daydream

...of course, if I'm wrong, it wouldn't bother me in the least!

I think your opinion was based on too little information. No one knows the true severity of the injury except Rudy and the doctors. But the way he looked in the video tells me it wasn't that severe. When Willis Reed made his storied return in the 1970 finals, he was moving more gingerly than Rudy was in that video.

The FO and coaching staff have to play this situation as sneakily as possible. We won't get precise timelines because they need to keep the Clips on their toes. For such a massive big, a leg injury sucks big time, last year it took him a long time to get back at being the player he could be after the leg twist. Ideally the staff would probably want to give him 2 full weeks of rest but they can't play it like this. They have to keep options open. I would assume that the later he can be brought back in, the better from this point of view. I would bet that he won't play game 3 and that depending on the outcome he might not even play game 4 : if we win game 3 he most probably sits out game 4 too. Overall the situation still sucks big time though.

A week or two sounds a week or two better than what I thought which is two to three weeks at least.

Favors has no idea, of the teams I follow, I can't think of a guy who is slower to recover from injury. They have very different body types anyway so I don't think its comparable. He might be limited but I am hoping Rudy is back for game 3 and from the video I saw of him it's obviously nothing structural its just a matter of managing the pain and inevitable swelling.

Fingers crossed.

"a week or two"

or

"two to three weeks"

What does it matter it could all be over in 9 days.

Didn't Quin say in the mid quarter interview that if it was up to Rudy he would have played last night? I swear I heard him say that on TNT. That had me hopeful that he may see the court in games 3 or 4.
