Gordon Hayward - Yikes!

I don't post here much, so no one probably knows my views on Hayward. I have taken the view that many of you have had -- not thrilled with the pick, but lets give him time and see how he develops. However, with last nights incredible win, I think we are forgetting about the terrible 4 or so minutes Hayward had on the court. I mean Jason Hart was incapable of putting together such a bad 4 minutes. With pretty much everyone contributing a little bit to the team - from Elson, to Evans, to Watson and Price; Hayward seems to be the odd man out. Deron seems to be always trying to motion with his hands where he needs to be, he is always shaking his head when he turns the ball over, and just seems to have little patience for the kid.

I really think Jerry needs to send him down to the D-League and so he can get more experience and playing time. He has no confidence, and what's worse is you can see the embarrassment on his face every time he screws up. It's hard to watch! I'm not watching some awkwardly timed comedy where I can brace myself for the awkward moments, this is a basketball game, with professional athletes who screw up and don't look like they just farted in front of their 7th grade crush.

Anyways, Hayward, I'm not throwing in the towel yet, but the kid needs time in Orem or I think Deron will eventually eat him alive and Hayward will be no more.

I was on the front row at Energy Arena Solutions Arena when they picked Hayward. KSL's camera quickly panned and caught me slapping my forehead. All players can improve, but not many can increase quickness and jumping ability. I don't think he has the athletic ability to be an NBA swing. We drafted him because he was supposed to have a high basketball IQ, but he can't figure out where to go on the court. Don't get me wrong, I hope he develops into a good NBA player, but at this point I will be surprised if he is able to ever contribute on a consistent basis. I'm rooting for him to improve, but he's got to figure out where he's supposed to be on the court before Jerry gives him any time.

His athleticism is fine. He's just making bonehead mistakes like most players that only get 5 minutes a game. Sloan either needs to play him 15 minutes a game or send him to D league.

I agree, on one hand, he needs PT in Orem which will only help him in learning the system too, assuming we coacch it down there as well.

On the other hand, our bench blows right now and we can use the depth.

Hayward is struggling to find his role on this team. He is moving to good spots most of time but he and Deron are not on the same page and that hurts him a lot.

Also his play reminds me of CJ a couple of years ago. He is thinking too much. Also he isn't strong enough to take the contact on the drives.

He one good game came after Artest tried to muscle him and he reacted instead of thinking.

Most of his points in the regular season have come on the break.

The D league might be a very good idea just for his confidence.

Kid is D-League bound. Koufos could've used that too, let's hope the Jazz have figured that (when a player that's having confidence/fluidity issues but might otherwise be sufficiently able - and they're not even in the rotation, either - send them to the freaking D-league) out.

I'm sure a lot of people will agree with me on this.

Evans > Hayward

AS OF RIGHT NOW.

d leAGUE? Sure didnt help kosta did it. Face it jazz fanz it was another wasted 1st rounder. synder, kosta, kirk, on and on. The star player d
knows this kid is out of his league. TRy europe is what he needs. that kid from fresno would of been way better. babbit. Face it jazz took him cuz he is white

er

He does look like he's being too hard on himself when he messes up too. Being a cerebral player is great, but gotta already know what to do/where to be when the game is on. Maybe Jerry's system and his 'cerebral instincts' from college are conflicting...

I think it's lack of chemistry with Deron that is hurting him the most. I think Deron needs to go easier on him and I think that will help GH's confidence.

His game against LA shows he has it, but the kid needs time. How much is anyone's guess. It would be nice if he could contribute this year though, but it looks like that is not realistic.

He didn't get time this week because we were down in most games and on the road. During this next long home stand, he'll see more minutes and be fine.
