GSW Draft Pick Watch

You'd think - as these guys are doing this for a living - they'd be able to figure that out pretty easily whether a player translate. For example, how did everyone miss on MarShon Brooks? He looked to have the shooting form, athletic, good composure, offensive moves, etc, etc. I think it's a toss up right now who's better between him VS Burks at the SG spot from last year's draft. And Brooks was pick 25th!!!

Really? Awful take. I'd expand but it would become TLTR.

Seems like a waste of time. But how many of these stories do we see every year? How much of a pick's effectiveness (especially as a rook) depends
on the situation they're being drafted into? Level of competition. Offensive/defensive schemes.

Sam Bowie vs. MJ ..

Millsap vs. about 30 ..

Rondo?
Oden?

You get the idea about how hard it would be to predict, with near perfection, how to get it right? Much less to claim it should be 'easy.'

I think a lot of it too has to do with the kind of person you are. Are you driven to succeed despite failures. Are you a leader or a follower. Are you willing to work hard to achieve your goals, etc, etc. I don't know much about scouting process but I wonder if there's a psychologist assigned to look at these aspects.

Coming back to Lillard, I would assume that since he's already a leader within his team, he's had to deal with an injury, and still improved his production each year, that he's someone who's got some leadership in him and would do whatever it takes to succeed.

Wow.. I guess they're publicly not taking.. via San Francisco Chronicle:

"There has been a lot of talk in the media regarding intentional losing in order to advantage future draft positioning," Lacob wrote in an e-mail to The Chronicle on Saturday. "That will NEVER happen. Never. We are working very hard every day to change the culture of this organization.

"This Warriors team works very hard and we are proud of their efforts. We will continue to try to win not only every game, but every single quarter and every single possession. Teaching a team to lose is just NOT an option."

Agree with all of that.

Nuggets .. thx .. holy.
My sentiments exactly!

Almost a perfect night: a win for Golden State and losses by the Cavs, Raptors and Kings. Golden State is now 4 1/2 games up on the teams tied for the 4th-7th slots (Detroit, Toronto, Sacramento and NJ are all at 12-26). Washington, Charlotte and New Orleans are so far behind they're irrelevant at this point. Cleveland and Milwaukee are the "buffer" teams right now. Milwaukee won at home to stay 1 1/2 back of GS.

Let's hope they build up/maintain enough cushion so that even if/when they no longer care about their season, they won't be able to drop to the 7th spot.

Yep .. fingers crossed.

Does anybody visit the GS forum? I wonder how they feel about this pick. It would be awful for them if they don't get it AND they don't go to the playoffs which is all very likely.

I visit them on a daily basis to voice my support towards them winning, and to post anti-tank stuff once in a while. They are actually pretty cool compared to the way NY fans acted when we had their pick.

Lol, they have a "Tank the season" thread and a "NBA Draft 2012" thread. And I found this on the first and only page I read:

Something tells me the Warriors will play just "well" enough to end up with the 8th or 9th pick, thereby handing the pick over to the Jazz.

There's no chance there is a good outcome to this situation. The only reason the draft exists is to **** the Warriors.

Holy @*$&*

Someone posted this hypothetical trade for the GS and the Jazz:
Big Al for Curry/Kwame

I'd do that in a heartbeat if Curry didn't have injury problems.....Very bad injury problems.

Wait a second, think about what you just said. You would trade Jefferson to GS. Don't you want their pick? You saw what Jefferson has done to the Jazz, and they are a stable franchise. The bay area might just blow up!

Very bad day for the pick. Cleveland, NJ, Sacramento all pull out 1 pts wins, Toronto pounds Houston and GS loses big at home to Memphis. This is a day that could very well live in infamy. Next 10 days could really be the key to the pick. If GS only wins a couple, I think the tanking will commence.
